Tools and Hardware Reviews of SentrySafe DS5781 Safe 1-Hour Fireproof Electronic Safe, 2 Cubic Feet, BlackCustomer Review: Perfect Safe If You NEVER Want to Get Your Stuff Out! Summary: 1 Stars
Nothing more to say. Subject says everything. Another reviewer with the same title has said exactly what I wanted to write here. My model number is A5889. This has been occasional problem but always a big issue with battery drainage. Suddenly, Electronic pad has no power at all even after changing the battery since last week. Called Sentry customer support (case number 78545 dated 29 July 10) and they said it is all my fault - I might have used poor quality/over VOLT battery that has damaged the electronics of the same. And as per Sentry CSR, the only way is to call the local Locksmith to cut it. I AM NEVER EVER GOING TO BUY ANY Sentry product now. I am now just waiting for the mass law suit against Sentry.

Customer Review: Safe Stops Opening Summary: 1 Stars
The safe has always been a bit difficult to open. It always required several tries. But after about 2 years it does not open at all. After using the key and electronic code, the door handle doesn't move. After reading all the reviews and searching on google, I see this is the norm and not the exception. I didn't bother with Customer Service as others have said they are useless. As suggested by others, I used a rubber mallet and hit the bottom corner of the door a few times, and it finally opened. After removing my valuables, I'll be dumping this safe.
Customer Review: Horrible Summary: 1 Stars
I've had this Sentry safe for about a year. It will not open. Found this website [...]. 90 people so far have submitted their horror stories with Sentry safes and their Customer Service. Shameful. The only way for us to get into our safe now (the cust service rep suggested whacking it with a rubber mallet - which did not work) is to destroy it and have a $[...] dor stop and no safe. Don't buy Sentry safes. My local safe repair man said it would cost over $200 to crack the safe and that they get calls every week with the same problem with Sentry safes.
Customer Review: Oh wow, what a horrible piece of junk Summary: 1 Stars
I wish I've read reviews here before I purchased this safe from costco and it came with jammed door. I am glad I still can return it. After doing multiple searches and realizing what a stupid mistake I made, I was amazed that there were no instructions how to open safe if batteries ran out of charge... Yea... you are screwed! and can you imagine if you have to travel and you can't take your passport out???? Oh yea.. This is my first and last safe from SentrySafe. What kind of geniuses out there designing this safe? They should be fired!!!
Customer Review: Safe will not open Summary: 1 Stars
Very frustrating to have a safe that stops working after a year (yes, I've tried new batteries, rubber hammers, and the other "solutions" recommended by the manufacturer). Do yourself a favor and Google "sentrysafe will not open" and you'll find a huge number of consumers with the same issue.
