I was very pleased when I promptly recieved my item in the mail. It made a perfect Christmas gift, and was a remarkable value. Amazon shipped the item quickly, and it was well packaged. We have not had any problems with the item, the only downside is that it is a pretty tight squeeze for hanging file folders. You can make it work, and it appears that it will keep your belongings safe, but it is a little tight if you want to file a bunch of papers away.
Recommendation. Minimize the paper you have to store by scanning documents and saving them on an external harddrive that you can then place in the box. That was the other half of my Christmas gift, and I think it makes for sensible security!

I read all these bad reviews and I must have the only good one around. I have had no problems with mine, it works so good I bought 2 more. I should note I bought mine from a Sam wholesale store and it is a 4100C so they may have fixed all the described problems with the C model. The one I have is sturdy all around including the lock and hinges. I would recommend this for anyone for secure storage against fire and water, obviously since it can be picked up and carried (not easily since no real good hand holds, I assume to prevent easy grab and go) that you can open it in time but this safe is NOT a cake walk as described in the other reviews. I purchased this safe a few weeks ago. I needed it to store a backup drive, car titles and a few other odds and ends. I like that I can use hanging file folders in it. It is basically everything I needed in a safe. I probably do not even need as much room as it provides, but I was afraid the smaller one wouldn't be big enough. This one definitely is big enough. This is a very nice sturdy safe. I don't know if it will survive a fire as I haven't tested that, but the safe itself is pretty large and easily contains all we needed it to.
