I love these shelves. I bought 3 sets. I live in an apt and I needed a way to store my things and also have them available for use. I use them for kitchen appliances, books and other things. They are very tall and there is a lot of space between each shelf level. I'm a petite female and I was able to put them together alone. I used a rubber mallet. I put the first one together with it standing. The higher it went up the harder it got so I ended up having to lilt it over and lay it down to get the last 3 levels added. So with the second one I laid it down after putting putting on the bottom level. I added each level while it was laying down which turned out much easier than having it standing. In both situations I found it easier to add all four black supports and then gently sliding the shelf over all four of them. (Try to slide one part of the black support down/up the poll until it stops in a groove then attach the other part.) After I placed the shelf over the black supports then I used the mallet to secure it. Also, in both cases (standing and laying) I put the casters on first. I used the third as two small shelves (2 levels each about 3 feet high), one with casters and the other I used some of the "better intact" black shelf hole covers to cover the bottom of the polls to keep them from damaging the floor. I also used the black covers to cover the tops of the polls that had no covers. I recommend them highly and ordering them as amazon prime member meant I had no shipping charge which was great for something so heavy.Customer Review: Happy

I just assembled and filled my second shelving unit for use in my kitchen. These chrome shelving units have been a lifesaver by creating more usable space in my small kitchen. I use one unit to display my stainless steel pot set and other stainless tools, including my stainless crock pot, roasting pans, etc. The shelving, located in front of a window, still allows light into the kitchen and makes my pots sparkle in the sun. In need of more cabinet space, I just assembled another unit for use as a pantry. This one shelving unit holds five full cabinets worth of products of all sizes. I can now see everything right in front of me, and everything is organized. The pantry is packed with products, and the shelving holds it all -- cans, heavy bottles, boxes, bags. The quality of this product is excellent and I received both units quickly -- the second unit was ordered just before Christmas, and I still received it before New Years. Assembly is fun and easy. (The people expressing misgivings about the quality and assembly are not following the instructions correctly -- these units are well made, heavy duty, and STRONG). My kitchen is much more efficient and modern looking because of these chrome units. When my kitchen is remodeled and I no longer need the help of the shelving, I can use these units in my garage or my office. Of all things I have bought online, from any source, these shelving units are the best I have seen. They go together very easily (it helps having a person help you slide shelves down the corner posts), the packaging is good, and when the shelf unit is finished, it is superb. And, if you decide on changing shelf positions after it's assembled, which I did once, it is very easy to do by using a rubber mallet to hit under the shelf and knock it loose from the plastic sleeves they mount on. It is a very ingenious system. After I received my first one, and assembled it, I liked it so well, I ordered another one right away. Fortunately, I was able to get free shipping, which normally is rather expensive, on both units.
I would probably order another one, especially with free shipping, however right now I don't have the wall space available.

As I said, I LOOOOOVE these shelves! I only wish they came with the plastic inlays...and that they were cheaper. I paid about $120 after shipping. At my local Sam's Club I can actually get the 48" wide shelves, of the same type, by the same manufacturer, with 6-shelves AND inlays for under $80. Unfortunately I was pretty desparate and the 48" ones were just a little too big for the spaces I needed them for, and that's where these 36" models work GREAT!
It's really easy to put together. I just did it myself...with my 4 year-old nephew "helping" me. I didn't need the instructions. The rods have a piece that screws them together, they slide through the holes in the shelves (one shelf at a time), and onto the plastic brackets that hold them snugly in place. Perhaps people having trouble with it need to get a handyman to do it for them, but this is definitely a solid piece of equipment.

I just love this shelving unit. Assembling it is easy and no tools are required. I would suggest two people assemble it because it's pretty awkward with one, although it could be done. It's very study and with the wheels you can move a fully loaded unit around with ease. I'll never buy shelving without wheels again. (Of the four wheels two have brakes so you can lock them in place, if you want.) For those that would rather not use the wheels, they also include leveler feet you could install, if preferred. I just ordered a few more units! Also, the manufacturer has a website where one can buy all sorts of accessories like shelf mats, bins, hooks, unit covers...etc.
I had no problems at all getting these shelves to me from Target. I've ordered them 3 separate times, for a total of 11 shelving units. Never a problem with any of them.
