I have used this product for 6 months now and have never had any problems. It is easy to setup and works as advertised. I have my TV plugged into the controlling outlet, Tivo plugged into the always on outlet, and Xbox 360, PS3, receiver, and subwoofer plugged into the automatically switched outlets. When I turn off the TV, the automatically switched outlets power down just like the electronics were unplugged from the wall. The TV remains in standby mode and the Tivo remains powered on and able to record during the night. No setup required. Worked right out of the box.Customer Review: Worked right out of the box

I have an xbox 360, ps3, denon receiver, dish network dvr, and a philips 52" lcd tv hooked up to this.
Installation was simple. I am using my tv as the control device. If the tv is off, I will not be using the xbox, ps3, or denon receiver. The dish network dvr is plugged into the "always hot" outlet.
Everything just works. Once I turn the tv off, everything that is controlled turns off as well. I did not have to tweak the power settings on the power strip at all. I have heard that the xbox 360 is a power vampire so I'm glad I found this.

I purchased this to cut back on "always on" electronics that were running up my electric bill. The best feature is that you have an "always on" option while other items are cut off, all on the same strip. I can leave my DVR on to record while everything else is off and not sucking electricity. I also have one on my computer station, which allows the router to be on, but everything else shuts down. I was able to save over $300 last year by using these and changing to CFL light bulbs. I have all of my computer parts plugged into this strip. I am running Windows 7 off of an external enclosure connected by eSATA. I have my main CPU plugged into the control socket. When I power up the CPU, my monitor, speaker system, three external hard drives all power up at the same time without me having to flip another switch. I got it more for convenience instead of being green. I have my internet router and desk lamp plugged into the Constant Hot Outlets so the internet never goes out. We purchased to use on our HD TV and Blue ray DVD player. Plugged into the wall, these were always on in a "ready mode", even though we watched TV in the evenings only. The Smart Strip shut the TV and Blue Ray all the way off during the hours they weren't in use. It was easy to begin using and after only one month, our electric bill dropped 17%. We made no other changes in our electricity use that month, wanting to see how much this Smart Strip would help. Energy conservation and money back. Good combination.
