I have been sceptical about purchasing over priced surge protectors, but I have to say after using this item for 2 months I have seen a drop in my electric bill and can only point to this device. I am running receiver, HDTV, DVD, Cable Box and 2 lights on this device and it works great. I feel comfortable that when I turn off the TV everything goes with it and excess power is not being consumed. It works like its supposed to. I have my TV plugged into the control outlet and my cable box and stereo in the always on outlets. I keep my DVD, VCR, and a few other periferals plugged into the on with control plug and when I turn the TV on, these items come on. When I turn the TV off, all power is removed so I am not using electricity for items I don't need all the time. I will get another one for my computers later.Customer Review: Smart Strip

If there is anything I can do to get us off Middle East and Venezuelan oil--I'm for that. This power strip works just as advertised--everything powers down when you turn off the principal device.
We've hooked up the PC and cable boxes to main plug, and the peripherals to the slave plugs. We are saving approx 80% of the energy normally used while we are not using these devices.

I purchased the smart strip so my peripherals would shut down when my PC was turned off. I had 6 hard drives, a printer, monitor, etc which all drew energy. The smart strip has performed flawlessly since I installed it.
I no longer have to go back after the PC has done its shutdown routine and manually shut off everything. When I turn the power to the PC on, the peripherals are turned on automatically.

Love it. Easy to setup and works great. I'm using it with my entertainment center. The TV is the control device with the VCR, DVD player, stereo receiver, indoor antenna and wireless transmitter plugged into switched outlets and the satellite receiver plugged into a non-switched outlet. I don't know that I'll be able to see the savings on my electric bill, but I like knowing that I'm wasting less electricity.
