It worked perfectly as received (default setting). Changing an Onkyo "home theater" receiver from standby to active turns on the tv and subwoofer, and back to standby turns them off. The first one being still entirely satisfactory after 2 weeks of use, I bought 2 more for 2 desk top computers and their multiple accessories.Customer Review: Really works for me

I really like this device in helping eliminate phantom loads. When you plug in your controlling device and all other peripheral devices, they all turn off when you turn off your controlling device. I have it hooked up to my home theater system. When I turn off the TV, all my other devices turn off too.Customer Review: Great idea!

This power strip is a great idea! I purchased it as a gift for my father. It's a nice energy saver, and it's great to be able to push one button (in his case, the computer) and have everything turn on. It works just like I would have expected, and he uses all the time. Works perfectly. I bought a nice new receiver and the only feature it didn't have was a switched outlet. I use this strip to turn off other components such as my HDMI and composite video switches when my receiver turns off. Very good product. Set your control unit, such as a TV, and then allow your speaker system, VCR, DVD, and other peripherals on the auto-switch plugs and when your TV is off, your other energy burning electronics are cut off too.
