As a sewer for 30 years, some of that time professionally, I can say that this is a great product. No, it's not a regular sewing machine, but this little guy can certainly do your mending work. I bought this because my dogs tore some holes in their bed, and I didn't want to drag out the full size sewing machine. Well, it just chug-chug-chugged through four layers of fleece. Job done!
Also, this Amazon affiliate is top notch. I got it in three days, and they test it for you before they ship it, so what can you lose?

I purchased this item fo rmy mother. She loved it. She's a very craft-oriented person and this handheld sewing machine is perfect for her smaller jobs. She recently purchased a new cloth curtain for her shower and used the machine to attach a decorative trim. She said all she did was hang the curtains from the shower and it took her about 15 minutes total to finish the trim. It looks gorgeous and I know it would've taken ages to do it using a traditional machine. Love the item!!!

My mother just purchased this machine and loves it! The batteries run down quickly though. I contacted Smartek to inquire about their cord for this machine. Here's the Kicker: The cord costs $5.00 and shipping/handling is $6.99. You could almost buy another machine.
