Description of Gardus D1203615+ D3203612 LintEater System And Extension KitOver time, your dryer vent fills with lint that sneaks by your dryer's filter, which makes your dryer work harder to dry your clothes. You can save every month on your dryer bills if you keep your vent system free of lint. The system generally pays for itself in the cost savings after the first use. In addition, it will help avoid the fires that can occur when lint buildup blocks the flow of air, causing excessive heat buildup by keeping your dryer vent clear with the LintEater. Designed by a leading manufacturer of professional duct-cleaning equipment, the LintEater Dryer Vent Cleaning System effectively removes dangerous lint build-up in almost every type of dryer vent system, and it's easy to use with a shop vac or cordless drill (sold separately) or even your dryer's air.
Tools and Hardware Reviews of Gardus D1203615+ D3203612 LintEater System And Extension KitCustomer Review: Linteater is a fantastic system!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I was very frustrated because my dryer was taking forever to dry our clothes, towels, etc. I was sure that the reason must be because my dryer is getting old. It never occurred to me that a clogged lint vent might be the problem.
In our neighborhood, the homes are built with dryer vents that run inside the laundry room walls and up through the roofs. After learning that one of my neighbors paid $100 for a service person to remove the lint that had clogged her vent, I decided to do some research on the subject. That is when I learned about Linteater.
I contacted the manufacturer, Gardus, to ask if it was possible to use their system to unclog the vent from my laundry room without having to climb up on our roof. A very nice representative assured me that it was possible, and provided some guidance to me.
I found that Smarthome was selling the Linteater System with Extension Kit for a great price through Amazon, and after reading customer reviews, I decided to purchase it. This week, I watched the included CD, read the instructions, and began the task of cleaning the vent.
The system is fantastic! It contains an attachment to which you connect your shop vac hose, and that has a tubular opening through which you feed each of the rods. I attached one rod to the auger brush and fed it back through the rod opening, and then inserted the brush and shop vac attachment into the vent opening. I attached another rod to the first one using two pliers as recommended, turned on my shop vac, and inserted the back end of the second rod into my cordless drill. I fed the rods up into the vent leaving about eight inches of the rod still exposed, turned off the drill, attached another rod, inserted that rod end into the drill, and fed that one into the vent. I kept up the process until I reached the top of the lint vent, and then, reversed the procedure by moving back down the vent using the drill, and removing one rod at a time by reversing the process described above. When I was finished, I looked up into the vent with a flashlight, and found that it was absolutely free of all lint.
In addition to cleaning out the vent to the roof, I used the Linteater lint brush, attached to one of the rods, to clean out the area in which my dryer lint screen resides. [I also used the shop vac to clean out the dryer exhaust vent, and opened up the front, lower "kick" panel, and vacuumed out as much lint as I could reach with my shop vac attachments.] When I finished putting everything back in place, I put a load of laundry in the dryer, and was amazed that it took only about half the time to dry!
Thanks to the Gardus Linteater system, Smarthome, and Amazon, my dryer is working like it did when it was new! I am sure that there will be a very positive impact on our electric bill next month also!
[By the way, as others have mentioned in previous customer reviews, I didn't have to use duct tape on the rods because I followed all of the Linteater instructions to "always spin in a clockwise direction." I was also careful not to use too much of the drill's power to feed the rods into the vent.]
