My lint snake (Gardus Linteater) came today and let me tell you, it is worth its weight in gold. The DVD was terrific and the parts were well made and sturdy. My dryer was doing the 'ole not drying for several cycles routine. I hooked a shop vac up to the inside 4" dryer vent and turned it on. I attached one of the flexible snakes to the 4" brush and started it through the vent on the outside. I only had to add one more extension till I reached the dryer port guard that stops the snake from entering the dryer. BTW, I tested the outflow volume before I started and then again after reaming it with the lint snake. Most of the built up lint was removed the first pass but I made several more just to ensure a good cleaning. The output volume was unbeliveably improved after using the snake. My wife ran several loads of freshly cleaned laundry thru the dryer and it works as well or better than the day we bought it! This product is well worth the money for anyone that wants to save the time and expense of a repair man's house call and it is simple to use.Customer Review: Worked really well and easy to use

This thing is great. Our vent was not totally clogged, but was stopped-up enough that we were blowing thermal fuses at the exhaust vent in the dryer, and clothes needed two and a half dryer cycles to dry.
We've got a 21 foot horizontal vent run with at least three 90 degree elbows in it. We set up a leaf blower inside, blowing out. I hooked up the Linteater to my portable drill and ran seven rods in from the outside. What a mess came out of that vent tube, but the tube looked about like new after we were done with it.
It's probably cleaner to use a shop-vac at one end to suck up everything, but we don't have one so the leaf blower worked fine but was messy at the exit. There are lint bags available for this too that might have helped quite a bit without the shop-vac.
The flexible rods are great and everything worked exactly as advertised and as demonstrated in their DVD video that comes with the product.

Red letter day at our house. Last year we spent $270.00 on dryer repair. I saved the part and payed only $6.52 for the part and we installed it ourselves. We had been told that lint buildup in the vent could be the problem with this little part burning out. So we figured we'd look for another do-it-yourself product that would help us to save the $300.00 the ventcleaning guy quoted us to come out and clean out the vent. So we went to Lowes and purchased the Linteater for $36.00. Wow!!! We could not believe the big bunch of lint that we were able to get out of the vent. It would have filled up a large garbage bag! No wonder it was taking forever for our clothes to dry! The Linteater was fairly easy to use and we were so impressed with the way it worked.So by estimate we saved ourselves about about $520.00 today. Not bad for a couple Do-it-yourselfers. This item cleaned as it was advertsied. I thought it to be expensive, but it is well-built, and of thougthful, simple design. I paid $45 (incl. an additonal set of threaded rods and shipping. I bought this instead of the hand-turning type as I had a long run (over 24') and believed a drill to be more efficient. Instructions should be read as there are some caveats to follow. This dryer vent had not been cleaned since the house was built in 1990. I removed tightly compressed lint and hair the equivilant of a grocery bag in volume. I was shocked at how much of that stuff came out. I was skeptical as the air volume from the exterior vent opening did not increase after cleaning. However, dryer times reduced from two hours to 30 minutes. That told me a definite improvement had taken place. The savings in electricty and shortened times on the dryer heating element will pay for the price of this kit in one month.Customer Review: Great, easy and effective!

Easy, fast and very effective. It took me about one hour and a half to clean a 16 feet long dryer lint duct full of twist and turns. When done, I ended up with a grocery bag full of old accumulated lint, and noticeable shorter time dryer cycles. The only problem I encountered, is that the vacuum attachment that came with the system does not fit my shop back, so I decided to use the dryer blower attachment instead, causing the lint to blow everywhere. I was very impressed with the workmanship of the product and the reusability. Generally speaking, a product for this purpose at that price, can only be used once due to poor design and workmanship. The system also works on gutter draining pipes, but I did not used the product for this, and expect not to have the need to do so...
I highly recommend this product, having a professional do the job, could cost the same or more than the product itself.
