My wife ordered this for me since I sweat quite a bit at night and I have always been looking for something to keep my head cool, other than the fan that I have to use all the time. After I got the box in the mail (BTW, they sent a HUGE box with a ton of paper just for a little package) I opened it up and read the directions and followed them to the letter. The initial start up is quite a pain. after using it for the first time, i am amazed at how much it cools.
alot of the other comments are true, that the chillow does get somewhat hot in the middle of the night. also, i dont know about leaking mentioned in other comments but i somewhat expect it to happen at some point in time. however, after it does leak (box includes leak repair kit) i will buy another chillow!
As far as the smell of "plastic" i did notice it at first (only for a couple of days) but it reminded me of falling asleep lying on a inflatable raft in the middle of a pool or on the beach. i rather liked the smell since i grew up on a lake and did fall asleep lying on blow up rafts lol. i think that if people just associate the smell with something that is relaxing (like i did) you will get over the smell very fast and then not even notice it (i kinda wish i did smell it still).

I read about this pillow so many times before I decided just to go on and try it. I had been sleeping with so many tricks to keep cool, but nothing works like the Chillow. I put mine in the refrigerator as soon as I get up in the mornings. It's ice cold at night, so I put it under my pillow instead of inside my pillow case. It seems to hold the cold longer. If I get hot, I turn my pillow case over and stick my hand under the pillow for instant relief. My husband is a heat lover. I bought a new thick mattress pad that becomes so warm (my husband loves it). So now he is happy with the new mattress pad and I am happy with my new chillow pillow. I am going to buy another for my daughter. Her room can get pretty warm.Customer Review: Chillow Plus

The Chillow Plus is a definite improvement over the original Chillow. What makes it better is the larger size. It stays cooler longer during the night and it is easier to move your head to a cool spot if the area you are sleeping on gets warm. Befor getting this new larger size, I had to use two Chillows during the night to keep a cool sleeping surface. The only minor problem I had with the new Chillow Plus was a mild "plastic smell." I contacted their customer service and they suggested washing the Chillow with an equal part water and vinegar solution and after that rinse with soap and water to get rid of the vinegar smell - it worked and now there is no odor.Customer Review: Cool but needs work...

I bought the ChillowPlus for my Husband. He loves to be cold when he sleeps; so I thought this might keep him comfortable. It stays cool for most of the night; and at first it stayed inside his zippered pillow case quite nicely. He loves it, but can't keep it in his pillow case any more; it seems to have softened and now slides to the bottom or front of his pillow. This seems to be a common problem, by reading the other reviews.
He now keeps it under his pillow, outside of the case; and flips his pillow over when he gets hot.
He says it seems to keep the side of the pillow that it's making contact with cooler, then without it.

I have just purchased my third Chillow in as many years. It has now been improved and I'm sure it will be even better
than the regular Chillow. I suffer terribly with HOT FLASHES and I will tell you,it does give relief for a while, I
even get a few hours sleep now.I have recommended this to many of my friends in the same situation. Thank you for a great product.
