Customer Review: Smelly washer + charlies soap

Combination of Smelly Washer and Charlies Soap our 3 year old front load LG into a much better state then it i was before. Basically our towels smelled and that was annoying. I started to first battle this smell with bleach and vinegar and clorox washing machine cleaner and baking soda... We did a lot of cleaning. Washer would get better but smell would come back within a week. And towels still smelled. Then i found charlies soap on amazon and we tried that. I soaked our overfilled washing machine (perm press setting for 20 min and then powered it down) over night with Charlies Soap and then noticed that tub was covered in moldy flakes. As I drained water from our cleaning tube/pipe (located int he front bottom of our front load LG) I got many many more flakes. After 5-6 cleaning with Charlies Soap i continued to get these moldy flakes (even after an extra rinse). So it was clear that Charlies Soap was working but i guess my machine was in a really bad state. So i got the Smelly Washer. First time i ran/soaked my machine with the smelly washer (2 lid fulls) for about 5 hours. After it was done the tub looked clean (no flakes) and then i drained the water from the cleaning pipe at the bottom of my washing machine. This water had large chunks/cubes of brownish grayish mold. I could not believe how bad my machine was. I also by hand rinsed down the inside of my washer. I used a large water bottle and splashed water against the back side of the washing tub. i got a lot more of these moldy cubes. I did a bunch of these rinses. During one of these rinses i took a picture which i uploaded on amazon. LG SHAME ON YOU FOR MAKING SUCH A BAD PRODUCT!!! As soon as i was done i started another soak and that one lasted for 3 hours. after it was done i drained the water again and this time it was clean. i also splashed water against the back wall and all around and i got clean water out of my cleaning pipe. THANK YOU SMELLY WASHER! So now i use Charlies Soap (no softener) to wash the clothing and for 2 weeks we added small amounts (a pinch) smelly washer to our loads. the laundry room does not have smell any more. towels have a mild smell of Charlies Soap.
Things it did not do is it did not remove the black mold stains from the rubber lip of our washer. We soaked paper towels with Clorox Washing Machine Cleaner and put them against the stains and that has removed 80% of the stain. Also if i close the door of our washer (even after it has been 2-3 days since laundry) for 3-4 hours and open it i still smell mold so i guess i did not get it all out. but over all Charlies Soap and SMELLY WASHER really helped!!!
The most important thing is that this cleaning fixed eczema on me and my toddler. Our 2 year old toddler had really bad eczema all over her legs and back and arms. We have been trying to get rid of this eczema since she was 1 month old. We tried a lot for different lotions and tracked her diet to see if we can eliminate allergies. Nothing worked! She would scratch a lot some days non stop (we would have to hold her down) and most of the time she would scratch to blood! we constantly put steroid cream on her and even that was not helping. the amazing thing is after I cleaned our washer her eczema is GONE!!! she stopped scratching! In 2 weeks her skin cleared up 99%. She still has very small patches but it is much much better. we stopped using steroid cram. I always suspected that her eczema was environmental but we thought it was chlorine. She had a bad eczema on her had. Last week we switch her hand soap to Babyganics Foaming Hand Soap and that took care of that last eczema spot. Now that i see her without eczema i realize how much it was affecting her life. she is now much less edgy, sleeps better. i don't see her twitch and scratch. It just brings joy to my heart to see her being not bothered by this eczema. Also very unexpectedly my skin cleared up too. I thought i had acne on my back and i had a lot of dry skin on my upper legs. my "acne" and my dry skin is magically gone.

UPDATE: we also switched out toddler to VaniCream (before we exclusively used California Baby for all of her skin products). VaniCream this really helped with her very dry skin that she periodically gets on her hands. Now that we know that there is an environmental aspect to her eczema we are also exploring possibility that she has a reaction to dust mites. After all pollen, dust mites and mold are the big 3 offenders. We have washed ALL of her stuffed animals in super hot water... In general we became much more aware of our skin and we are about to test Allersearch Allergen Wash in hopes that we can eradicate our minor yet annoying respiratory issues (stuffy nose in the morning).
