I bought this during the Friday Sale. I am very pleased with this fan. It is whisper quiet. No noise at all. You have to get right next to it to hear it. Blows out powerful cool air for such a small fan. It has a timer but I do not use it. If you needed a timer it would be great.Not to mention it is off season now for a fan in Chicago and you won't find one anywhere. Great fan for the price ... quiet and very useful. Not sure if I like the use of the word 'oscillating' in the descriptions as that makes me think of the fan rotating side to side. The 'oscillation' with this fan is attained by having the front spiral guard rotating, which does seem to make the air move about a bit, but no auto side to side motion.
All in all though I'm very pleased with the product.

Excellent small fan bought for my daughte'rs dorm room. She's in a triple so space is tight. This is compact, super quiet, light, and very good at cooling down the room. The three speeds and oscillation provides many options. The auto safety off when tipped is more for my benefit then hers. This fan is very quiet. I keep in the window at night to bring in the cool air. It is so quiet that I do not hear it and can sleep peacefully. I have purchased many fans that claim to be quiet and are not. This Soleus fan really is. A coworker had one in her small office, and it was quiet also. The fan moves the air efficiently without a wind tunnel effect. The timer works and and does not tick.Customer Review: Great Fan!

I have had this fan for over a year now. It works great! I do not use the timer at all, and I see no need personally. I have a woodstove and it circulates the hot air near the ceiling down into the next 3 rooms of my house. The fan has 3 speeds, and the highest speed (3) is a little noisy, but not that bad. My last fan was MUCH noiser on speed 1. This fan is VERY quiet. Excellent! A+++
