As reviewers have stated, this is ultra bright on the high setting. It's like looking into the sun, but provides nice lighting. While I'm sitting at night, I simply prop up a book on it's side to block out the intense light. The warmth is amazing even on low setting. I have two year-old cats and they adore it. They sleep in front of it in their bedding. It's quiet operation. The oscillation is impressive the span it covers. It's so cold here in WI, I do need to operate my base board heating as well from time to time.
I also ordered the Optimus Infrared heater, which is not bright...it's like a soothing fire place lighting...but it does not oscilate.
I haven't done much research yet, but will the bulb need replacement?

I LOVE this heater. I received it as a gift nearly two years ago and it's still working great. I live in a one bedroom apartment in rainy Portland, Oregon and it's gets cold! So many times I've come home cold and wet and this thing makes me feel a million times better in no time at all. It's very quiet (I hate noisy heaters) and it's small, so I can easily bring it with me if I move to another room. It's instantly warming and I love the light. I spend a lot of time at my desk in one part of the house and I keep this heater nearby to keep me warm instead of keeping the electric heat running throughout the house all day. If you want something you can tote around the house with you, you like a warm, orange glow and you want inexpensive heat instantly, BUY THIS!!Customer Review: Excellent all around heater

With low and high settings plus oscillation, it will never be frigid inside again. This heater is an excellent choice if you are trying to save energy and dont like the burning smell some heaters give off when they first turn on. The Soleus Air is a very safe solution to a cold room, yet never gets too hot and wont burn anything. The only complaint I have is that the timer makes a slightly noticeable noise, especially when automatically turning off, and sometimes it will continue to make a faint clicking sound after shutting off. However this is a minor detail since I dont use that feature often, and only a concern for those who sleep right next the their heaters. Anyhow, this bad boy can do the job from across the room in minutes!Customer Review: Wonderful space heat

I bought this product to replace a Soleus heater I had got back quite a few years ago. I like the quietness of the product, and the heat it gives off. I am always more cold than my husband, so I use this in front of me when I watch tv, and also take it with me when I work sometimes. It throws off very good heat, and keeps our furnace in the room from kicking on. The only drawback is when you are watching tv at night, it does throw off alot of light, so if you aim it right at yourself, it can be hard to watch tv. I did go to the strore to replace the heater and could not find one, so I tried something else, I was not saisfied with it at all, so I came back and ordered it here online, and I am so glad I did!

I'm getting another one, I love this sucker so much.
Energy efficient at 400 and 800 watts vs 1500 for a convection heater.
In short, if you:
1) stay pretty much in one spot during the day
2) have high ceilings or your home is really hard to heat
3) have dust allergies
4) use a heater just during your waking hours and pile on the warm blankets at night
5) are not bothered by some light being emitted from your heater
6) have cats or dogs
7) love how it feels when the sun warms up your clothes and skin
8) are concerned about energy efficiency
9) need a heater that won't burn anyone who bumps into it
then this is the space heater for you!
