Tools and Hardware Reviews of SteamFast SF-407 1500-Watt Fabric Steamer

Customer Review: works exactly like it should-it's perfect
Summary: 5 Stars

I've used a professional steamer at my work and I've always wanted one but didn't want to spend $200, so when I found this one for $60 I decided it was time to take a chance. This steamer is perfect in every way. It sets up easy, it stores a lot of water, it says it takes 30 seconds to steam but mine is steaming in seconds once I turn it on. The hook is tall enough to put a hanger on while steaming and then it retracts so I can store it in my closet and it only takes up a square foot in there. For those reviewers who expected to get "crisp" pleats, you need to buy a dry-cleaning machine, not a steamer- steam makes the clothing supple and wrinkle free, not "crisp". It will take out wrinkles- it takes me less than a minute to steam a wrinkly button up dress shirt and it's so easy to go around the buttons, the collar etc- unlike ironing which would take forever and you'd wind up making creases working on corners. It does use a lot of power though, I blew a fuse in my 1960's house when I plugged it in with some of my other appliances though. I've only had it a month though so I don't know how long it will last but I love it so far, I just hope it's built well enough to last years.

Customer Review: Very Satisfied
Summary: 5 Stars

I've been wanting to invest in a steamer for a long time, but they are so expensive. So I was happy to find this one that had very decent reviews and a great price. It only took a few minutes to assemble, and it was ready and steaming in about a minute! It works great on lightweight fabrics and takes a little longer (but still very effective) on heavier fabrics, this is my first steamer but I would imagine that is pretty typical. I found it very easy to use. Only minor negatives: like many said, the pole/hook are a little low, so you either have to get on your knees or put it on a step. The tube also get VERY hot, so you have to be careful it doesn't touch your arm or hand. Also, the tank does empty a little quicker then advertised, so if your looking to steam mass quantities of items at once or need it for commercial use, this may not be the steamer for you. If's perfect for everyday household use though. Overall, very satisfied.

A side note: note a big deal, but the one I received looks a little different from the one picture, mainly just the base. My model looks a little newer, so maybe the website picture is old.

Customer Review: Great steamer? Look no further!
Summary: 5 Stars

I was recently in the marker for a new steamer when my old one suddenly broke. After searching extensively for a new steamer, I stumbled upon the SteamFast SF-407 here. What first caught my eyes was how inexpensive it was compared to other medium sized steamer out there on the market.

The steamer works great, I can see an instant result when trying to straighten out any wrinkles. The extended pole is a lifesaver, so convenient and efficient. The brush at the tip works amazing, pulls the wrinkle right out along with any lint. The steaming pad that comes with the steamer is amazing, very smart way to straighten out those tough wrinkles. The water container holds a decent amount of water, for me it lasted about 5-8 dress shirts(depending on how wrinkled each was). The on and off switch is another plus. Pretty much everything can be gathered into a bundle for easy storage.

To sum it up: efficient, convenient, works like what a steamer is suppose to, easy storage

Overall, it is does it you want it to do. I am very satisfied.

Customer Review: Excellent starting steamer for the price
Summary: 5 Stars

I have had this steamer for close to two years now and it still works great. I bought it when my iron when out, so it was my first steamer and I did not want to spend a lot as I did not know if I would like steaming.. turns out I LOVE steaming :-) I use this frequently, usually do several things at once, whatever I can get on a tank-full of H2O.

Now that I know I love steaming and will never iron again - I am looking for an upgrade.

PROS:
PRICE!
Heats up quickly
Works great - never had a problem in almost two years
Light weight - easy to move and roll out of sight
Fairly tall hanging height - but would like it taller. I am 5' 8".

CONS (what I am looking to upgrade):
Hose gets hot and I frequently say ouch (or $*%&) when using this
Can get tipsy with heavier items
Should use distilled H2O
Relatively small water tank
Taller hanging height

Customer Review: So much easier than ironing!
Summary: 5 Stars

Fill it with water, turn it on, wait a few minutes and PRESTO! It's SOOOO much easier than ironing, and there is no danger of scorching your clothes. This machine does not replace your iron, as some clothes may still need ironing. But for me I can wash my dressier "going out shirts" and steam them in a matter of minutes, then hang 'em up in the closet, they are ready to go!

This saves you so much time and effort, everyone should have one of these.

Pros: Fast, easy, steams for 45 minutes on one tank of water (though I don't have enough clothes requiring ironing to use it that long. This machine is well made. It's the first of it's kind that I've owned, so I can't compare this to other models.

Cons: Not the most visually appealing device, though it will most likely be stored and used in your laundry room, so not a big issue. The obvious: The steam is HOT, be careful with the steam end.
