Customer Review: Amazingly Better Than I Expected

Even with the large number of good reviews, I bought this cabinet with low expectations. I would have bought a metal cabinet were it not for the issue of rust and corrosion. I doubted that a plastic utility cabinet could be sturdy and have strength enough to be truly useful. When I began to unpack the plastic panels, my doubts multiplied. The panels seemed flimsy. However, when I was halfway through the assembly, which goes fast and is actually quite simple, I could see that the cabinet was going exceed my expectations by a large margin.
The engineering of this product is excellent. The panels assemble to a rigid structure. The instructions are complete and easy to follow. Each shelf is rated to hold 40 pounds and I can easily believe this is accurate. It is actually a joy to see that a product is so well made and fulfills all that is claimed for it by the manufacturer. I only write reviews for items that I really like or which have greatly disappointed me. I think you can see that in the case of the Sterilite Utility Cabinet, it was the former that inspired me.

We own two of these utility cabinets now. The first one we have had for years and it has held up really well. The second on we just purchased because we liked the first one so much.
This cabinet has 4 large shelves that can be moved to suit your storage needs. Each shelf can hold up to 40 lbs but I personally wouldn't put anything that heavy in it because it will eventually cause the shelf to bend.
You will have to assemble this cabinet but the instructions are easy to understand and it doesn't take long to assemble. I think it took me about 15 minutes. All the pieces are labeled and simply snap together. I caution you to be sure that you are connecting the right pieces or it is rather difficult to take back apart.
Once assembled this cabinet is quite sturdy considering it's made from plastic. In my opinion plastic is good though because it doesn't get damaged easily, it can be easily cleaned and it won't rust if you have it in a damp garage or basement.

These cabinets are as easy as pie to put together - just follow the easy directions and lettering. They snap together and won't come apart. They are sturdy and hold a lot. If the selves start to buckle like mine are doing under 84 cans of cat food, the shelves are easy to replace - only about $5 each and the Sterilite people are very polite and quick to respond to your order. I must replace a door soon, but they can't be too expensive either. I busted the door by backing up into it with my wheelchair and took it off the hinge - the hinge snapped inside the hole - so it is not Sterilite's fault for any of the wrong that went with these cabinets. MY FAULT for the shelves -- TOO MUCH weight and not watching where I was going with the door open. BTW - I have 14 of them in my apartment. They have lasted about 3 years so far with only MY FAULT being with two of them. So get them if you need shelves and just don't put 84 cans of cat food on one shelf.Customer Review: Very Practical. Love this product! I have a small porch and live in a small house with one closet. I was always bumping into the vacuum and attachments, cleaning products, rolling tool organizer, not to mention that the porch looked like a junk heap. After reading the other reviews that recommended 2 sets of hands made the job easier, I had a friend come over and help me put these together and it took us less than 20 minutes to assemble them both. One has all the shelves in place and the other has two shelves since I store my vacuum and step ladders in the tall space. Not only do these hold everything I listed but much more, like my 2 stock pots, lunch bags and various misc. items that needed a home. They literally came in 2 days, no damage and who can beat FREE s&h!! I love purchasing from Amazon for that reason. This has to be one of the best things I purchased lately. I use it on my patio for my outside supplies, like cups, dishes, napkins, salt, pepper, sugar, and everthing else I need at my hands, rather than running inside to get it.
Everything is just organized neatly and at hand. You just have to be careful that if there is a wind storm that it doesn't blow down. I lost one over the winter,and it cracked so this one I put some bricks on the bottom to weigh it down and it is not going anywhere.
It can be put to good use for any outside project like for your gardening supplies or pool supplies. It even has a hole to put a lock and key if you need that. Came with free shipping. Same price as the store and I didn't have to go lug it, just had it delivered to my front door.
It is very appealing to look at and can be used anywhere in the house for storage also.
