I never knew the difference in water by location, until I visited LA. After showering down there, my skin became very dry. I did some research and found that this product was at the top of the list when it came to shower filter experiences. There are other ones out there, but this one was well documented. I ended up purchasing the unit to see if it would help a skin condition. I haven't used the unit long enough to notice, but I can say that there is a noticeable difference in the way my skin and hair feels.
My skin is more moist and softer to the touch than without the filter. The steam that forms smells fresher and the shower head provides a nice stable stream. Overall a great product and I hope to report back with my long term results.

I'm really impressed with this filter. I switched from another 2.5 gpm shower head and felt absolutely no water pressure drop. In fact, it practically blasted me across the shower, increasing the pressure if anything. It does take slightly longer to rinse, but I suspect that it may be softening the water which causes soap to foam more. My skin is much softer after showering. I also noticed I have an easier time breathing in the shower without the swimming pool chlorine smell. I didn't realize before that my asthma was tightening up my lungs whenever I showered. To top it off, it was very easy to install. Overall, I'm very pleased. (Oh, and I'm not in San Francisco anymore. We have installed and used our Aquasana shower filters for many years. I recommend this brand to everyone I know especially if they are thinking about adding a water filtration system.
You will find that your hair and skin feel so much softer. It removes unwanted chemicals including chlorine or flouride among many others while leaving the trace minerals that we all need.
Our child wouldn't leave for college without her shower filter that she installed in the college dorm. The other suite mates have been amazed by how nice their hair and skin feels.
We can always tell when we are visiting elsewhere how much we miss our Aquasana products. I highly recommend this system above all others.

Aquasana factory direct discounted and water-for-life program totals $110...so same diff on above list price for shower head and 2x filters. However, the quality is what is most important. Aquasana systems and filters are rated #1 Best Buy in Consumer Digest. Our family has been using the shower filter for a number of years both in the city and the country. It is effective in filtering both city water (chlorine) and/or well-water (iron). It works equally well with both hard and/or soft water. Easy to install and maintain. I chose to use a shower filter, after learning about chlorine hazards and that our skin is the biggest sense organ to absorb them. I chose aquasana because a friend said he was recommended the same for hair loss. Well I thought I do not have hair loss, but lets go with it. The first day, I took a head bath. And I was SURPRISED. I was not even aware that all these years the hair which I used to loose during shower was NOT normal. Only now I realise OMG how much hair I have lost !!. I used to have big amounts of hair loss during shower, this I came to know when there were only 3-4 strands of hair during shower with this filter.!!!. And yes, I do see a change in skin too. Thank you so much guys.
