Tools and Hardware Reviews of SPT SH-1508 Tower Ceramic Heater with IonizerCustomer Review: Best Electric Heater Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this heater for my living room. I have central heat and air, but this helps me save money on my heating bill. It's slightly more expensive than other ceramic heaters, but it has an air purifier and a remote control. None of the cheaper ceramic heaters have those features. You don't realize how handy the remote control is unless you have owned an electric heater without one. You can make minor adjustments to its thermostat with the remote control. You can adjust the thermostat from 64 to 90 degrees. It has a big, bright LCD display on the front that shows the temperature and other information. Many people seem to prefer those electric oil-filled heaters, but some of them can take forever to heat up a room. This heater produces a lot of heat quickly. It's rated at 5,200 BTUs. A small air conditioner has a rating of about 10,000 BTUs. It also has the ability to automatically alternate between high and low power when it's in AUTO mode. It doesn't always use 1500 watts of electricity because of that. Sometimes it will only use 950 watts if a room is already warm. The Sunpentown SH-1508 is the best electric heater I have ever owned.
Customer Review: Great for those with little ones & pets...love it! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this to help save money on my electric bill, which it has done pretty well. I like the simple, sleek design and added features. Moreso I am impressed with the safety features of this unit. I have a curious three year old, and an indoor dog and this heater has truly been a lifesaver! The dog will sometimes bump the heater, and it immeadiately shuts off. I love that feature! I feel safe knowing that if it ever fell over, I wouldn't need to worry.
A few other things that reassure me (especially with the little one)...The plastic silver part of the unit does not get hot. Another feature that I love is that you need to push the button on the base, and the one under the plastic cover to turn it on. My daughter was smart enough to lift the lid and push the button, but it didn't come on due to the base button not being on.
Lastly, I love how lightweight it is, as others I have seen seem to weigh quite a bit more, and the remote is a bonus for when I wake up in the middle of the night cold, I don't even have to get out of bed to turn it on!
Definately would recommend.
Customer Review: Quiet, space saving, very nice little heater Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great little heater. I am using it to supplement hot water baseboard heat that I want to use less this winter. So far, so good. We had a cold snap here in Mid October and with the boiler thermostat at 60 degrees, this little gem brought it up to 68-70 with no problem in a medium size living room (about 20x15). It might struggle a little at lower temperatures, but I bet it would still do pretty well even at 55 or so. It is SOOOO quiet compared to most space heaters. The small footprint is also why I chose this and it is very unobtrusive. The digital contols bug me, but that is only my personal preference...it is actually easy to use once you get the basics down. Never thought I'd use a remote (thought it was ridiculous, just get OFF your lazy butt!) but as a certified couch potato on occasion, it's sweet! I say its worth the extra money...cheaper ususally means noisier and big and ugly...or too small to effectively heat a good size space.
Customer Review: Great Little Heater Summary: 5 Stars
After reading dozens of reviews on dozens of heaters, I gave up and ordered what looked good. So far, I very happy with this one. Although assembly was indicated, it came fully assembled. It heats my son's bedroom (10 x 12) in very short order and it takes the chill off my living room (16 x 22). I switched to a pellet heater as my primary fuel and there are some areas of my home that just stay cool. I'm confident this will do the job on all but the coldest of days (Mid-Michigan). The directions are easy to understand and the remote is simple to use. The only drawback is the LED panel is super bright for my sleeping preference (great nightlight for a kid) and when the timer (max 7.5 hour) shuts the unit off, it seems to erase the preset room temp. It then defaults back to 75 degrees. Could be I haven't figured it out yet but either way, that's a minor thing to me. Overall, I think I got a good deal on a good heater.
Customer Review: SPT- SH-1508 Tower Heater. Good heater for small rooms. Summary: 5 Stars
This tower ceramic heater is made of durable, but lightweight plastic material and does a very good job at heating small to medium rooms. This product is designed for smaller areas and has many features that make it worth buying.
It has a auto temp feature, oscillation which spreads the heat during operation, auto timers, a fan, an Ionizer and a easy to read blue LCD read-out. The blue LCD display turns off after several seconds. It also comes with a remote control.
Since buying this heater, I've used it for the last few months and it has heated very well for small to medium sized rooms. It is worth the price and has many features you can use.
Update: As of December 2010, I have owned this heater for a year. It has worked very well for Ionized air, air circulation and heating. This has been a very good product and has performed without any problems.
