Customer Review: Perfect fit for our IKEA furniture!

Finally! A light solution for all our Ikea furniture pieces we put together. In their showroom, they always had their light kits inside them and we have always wanted that effect for our stereo cabinet, bedroom shelves and kitchen shelves. We bought one of those light kits, and what a pain in the neck to install for the average person - and it's electric. This product was the answer. Easy to use, battery operated, sticking them everywhere - they have made beautiful illuminations wherever needed. In the bedroom we have them behind the shelves of our bed, and they are perfect at night to add just enough light for us, but not to wake our baby. I never expected to cook with these lights or put together a jigsaw puzzle..... I knew from the product description that these lights were not for that purpose. They are for little detailing like shelves, cars. And they are perfect for the lifesized playhouse we have in our basement - now our daughters have light! Not much to say about this unit, other than it is is a great piece of technology. The battery seems to last quite a while and the light is actually bright enough to read by.
I use one in my Home Theater room when changing DVD's and using remotes, so I don't need to turn the lights on. A simply push on the top and you have instant light. I've used one for several months with no battery drain at all.
I also take one with us when we go out of town and use it as a reading light in Hotels...it's perfect for that as well.
As a bonus, the unit makes an excellent flashlight when you need it during a power outage, etc.
Portable, fits in your pocket if needed, good battery life, looks nice, easy to use...it's a winner, Uncle Willie

While the product is designed to be mounted on a particular spot (under a book shelf, in closet, any place were running an electrical wiring can be a hustle, any place were you are not intending to read fine print far away from the light source), I have discovered its ultimate use for school projects - lighting design class 1:1! This is a GREAT light source for lighting design project simulations. Its compact size and independent energy source (batteries) makes this light an excellent pocket companion. Its intense white light adds a bit of brilliance to the projects. This light could actually be a compact flashlight for keeping in the car or motorcycle. VERY bright, the light is not so much a "enclosed space" light like for a closet because the beam is more of a directional light like a flashlight. very easy to operate for kids and seniors. I have 2 of these in my enclosed cargo trailer for night time loading and Will be putting one in our small storage shed in our backyard. I have friends who use one as a night light for thier dog for when they travel. They keep thier toy poodle in the hotel room restroom at night and the dog stays quiet with this light on. While it's not going to light up your closet, the Sylvania Dot light has solved one problem for me. At night, in my Toyota, I could never see the button to lock the doors. I stuck the Dot Light the only place I could, an awkward angle, but it gives enough light that with one touch I can quickly turn it on and find the door locks or any other buttons on the door I need. In this vehicle, only the driver window button is highlighted at night. I don't know if in summer's heat the Dot Light will stay up, but for the past month I've done well in the mild winter, with temps only down to the low teens.
