I am a wildlife rehabilitator and often need to overwinter wildlife. That means taking care of ALL their needs, including vitamin D production they normally would get from sunlight exposure. It's also quite costly to run full spectrum lighting since I can't keep them in close quarters with the rest of the family to ensure their wildness upon release. This bulb meets all my needs and slashes the electric bill by a considerable amount. I've used one bulb for 12 hours a day for well over 6 months now and it is still going strong. Needless to say, I have one in reserve in case it dies, but so far I am very pleased with the longevity of this product.
