I had the misfortune of being swarmed with fruit flies and nothing I did would make them go away. So I found this here, ordered a couple, and then set them up. A month with these sitting at my two sinks, and those annoying bugs were all gone. It's pretty much a set and forget kind of thing. Just put them somewhere you know it won't be knocked over near where you think they might be breeding and leave it there for a month. You should buy one for every location they are congregating at, because if there's more than one place you will have more fruit flies than one trap can hold. The flies lose interest in the trap if it's too full of dead flies already. Shouldn't be a problem because they're cheap and if you buy more than one at a time you save on shipping. Whether they're breeding somewhere in your house, or around it outside, these things work. Just make sure that if it's an outside location that it's securely placed and won't be knocked over by the wind or an animal. If it's not that exposed, the wind shouldn't be too much of a problem because of the trap's shape.
On another note, the traps are also visually appealing so in the month that you have them out, they're not an eyesore like, for example, fly tape, would be. And if they were to accidentally get knocked over by a child, pet, or someone else, you don't have to worry because it's not toxic. They visually fit into most decor well enough that you won't mind its presence. It's a simple, but well thought-out fruit fly trap that works well. If I ever have a problem with fruit flies again I'm getting more of these little wonders. And of course suggesting it to any of my friends and family that have fruit fly problems.
