* Assuming you have smoke detectors that are hardwired to AC, with battery backup (your 10 year cell). Since the AC will be running your detector 99% of the time, a long "shelf life" battery is just what you need to not mess with the dumb things too often. Although, be prepared to wedge the things in there - depending on your model this can be a tight squeeze. And taking it out if it was, may involve the use of vice type pliers.Customer Review: Time will tell

After being woken up two nights in a row, I did some research on long life batteries for smoke detector alarms. The best price I could find was on amazon. I have replaced the batteries in all our smoke detectors with these. Now time will tell.Customer Review: Two years, not ten

I bought one of these for use in a Kidde Nighthawk CO detector about two years ago. Two months ago the detector randomly started reporting "Lo Bat". (Took me a while to figure out what was going on because the low battery alarm only sounded for a couple of seconds once a night.)I've switched to using a standard 9V battery. While this battery may work fine in some applications, it clearly doesn't work well in everything that needs a battery backup source.

If you read the fine print in their 10 year warranty; it is valid for an ionization detector only. But since I want protection against both fast burning and slow smothering fires,I want a dual sensor.
A 3 pack of Duracells are about the same price

I'll echo what others have said. This lasts longer than an alkaline battery, but you are unlikely to get 10 years from this battery. I used this battery in my smoke detector and I doubt it was in use for over 2 years.
