Tools and Hardware Reviews of Multimeter DT830B 19-Range DMMCustomer Review: nice Summary: 4 Stars
it work, good shipping. looks like dollar store staff, but not bad for the price.
Customer Review: needs some better directions Summary: 3 Stars
This just may be a 5 star product, but without directions for the non-cognicenti (sp?), it becomes less useful. I just wanted a battery tester, but I got something that I am sure does all kinds of things that I will never do, .. I have to guess how to use it as a battery tester. I think I have it figured out, but I can't just leave the dial on the setting that works - you're supposed to turn it off in between, so the dial goes back to neutral and I have to try to remember what dial position worked last time.
Customer Review: Cheap but cheap Summary: 3 Stars
As the name of the review says, it is cheaply made but is cheap to buy. It worked well for the first 6 months. Then the voltage started wavering a lot and I had to wonder how accurate it was. I have since lent it to a friend, he says it works fine. I bought another one for $10 more, and prefer it to this one quite a bit. Up to you if you want super cheap or middle of the line for a little bit more. Probably fine for people who don't use it much.
Customer Review: Electrical Engineering Degree Needed Summary: 2 Stars
So I just needed this to test some basic batteries around the house, nothing fancy or complicated. Just your standard AA, AAA, C, D and 9-volt. I'd read reviews of other competing products and learned that it's better to us a load-tester and this is supposed to cover that base. But apparently this product was not made for people like me without an Electrical Engineering degree. The directions are way over my head and speak nothing of basic battery testing....at least not in layman's English. So while the general consumer level products out there that focus on battery testing might not load-test them, at least they're simpler to use, so now I have to go buy one of those....or enroll in my local votech school for an electrician's course.
Customer Review: Description Misleading - No Batter Tester With Load Setting Summary: 2 Stars
I am extremely disappointed and feel deceived. Now that I can examine it up close, this is the exact same device I bought at a Dollar Store in a different color. I bought this because I wanted to test batteries under load to get a reading of how much power the battery still had. Old/used batteries can read 1.5 volts when not under load, but will quickly drop once a load is placed on it, hence the need to test them under load to determine if they are still good.
Anyway - as a cheap multimeter, it's fine. As a Battery tester with load - that's deceptive and why I give this 2 stars.
