I have two of the original Venta Sonic's that don't have the digital readout and am extremely pleased with them. I read the reviews of this new one and barely bought it... but good lord it's a great product. I don't have a hygrometer but I know I like the humidity where the readout says 45%, easy enough. This is my third humidifier from Venta [all are still working fantastic]. I gotta say something about the silly "white powder" that some people mention in their reviews - they're nuts...period....it's called dust people. There is no white powder whatsoever that comes out of a humidifier. People talk about white stuff on their TV's in their bedrooms - it's called dust; TV's are static magnets. Anyway, awesome product, buy with confidence, and buy the filters from the company's homepage - probably get a better deal on shipping than you would from a third party. Evaluating all the humidifiers of this type and category using the internet and feedback, this is the unit to select. The Venta VS207 isn't perfect but the best for it's application and price. This is the best I have owned to produce an abundance of vapor that relieves the dryness of winter. I have an oversized bedroom measuring 20' x 28' this unit produces a very comfortable humidity. The unit's humidstat is the only problematic reported issue. The accuracy is off but knowing this the user can make compensations to find your desired comfort range. Experiment and you will find that your adjustment to compensate will remain consistent so once you find it, set it and forget it. Hope this helps others selecting this unit and that you will find it to be as equally satisfying!Customer Review: A Perfect Humidifier

I come here actually is to buy another humidifier of this kind but too bad it's unavilable at this moment. I will have to go to the local Bed Bath & Beyond for it.
Our first humidifier has been working perfectly for 4 years (I am in Chicago the winter is quite long). I don't have any of the major problems some people complained here. Regarding the white dust, my other brand named humidifier does exactly the same!
It's difficult for me to udnerstand why others got into so much troubles. Are they really caused the humidifier itself or by those who either improperly used it or improperly expected from it?
In short I would recommend it to any one.

This is my 3rd portable humidifier - the other two are in the garage collecting dust. I am *very* pleased with the Venta. It raises the humidity very quickly and it is practically silent. Just fill it with tap water, and the included filter will ensure that your room won't be covered in white dust. I have had no problems at all with the unit.
It is true that the built-in hygrometer is not accurate. However, that needn't be a problem. Just determine how much humidity you want (perhaps by using a separate hygrometer), then set the Venta at whatever level maintains that humidity. Considering the overall excellence of the Venta, it is easy to forgive the hygrometer problem.

My wife and I both had sinus problems this winter until we got a couple of these units for our living area, and it's been like night and day. We feel better, no sinus problems, and have more energy. We keep them running 24x7.
The only problem is if we forget to fill the reservoir and the units run out of water overnight and the house gets dry, we wake up with sinus headaches. But that's hardly the humidifier's fault!
The units indeed register 30% when the humidity is below that. But we prefer the target humidity to be 35% or over, so that's not a problem for us.
I like them so much, I'm going to buy another one for my home office.
