Tools and Hardware Reviews of Venta VS207 Sonic Digital Cool and Warm Mist Ultrasonic Humidifier

Customer Review: Works pretty good.....
Summary: 4 Stars

Well the Venta works pretty well so far, the only gripe is that the warm mist doesn't work....not that I really need it but it would be nice if it did. Definitely worth the cash I paid for it. If you are looking for a humidifier that has a warm mist that works look toward the AirOSwiss 7135. The nice thing about the Venta is that the silver component is in the filter cartridge. The Air O Swiss has seperate components (more $$).
For people who complain about the white dust, try to use distilled water ONLY. If you go from tap to distilled, it may take a little while for the minerals in the water to clear (may keep getting white dust for a while). I only usually need the lower and mid settings and they both give at least 12 hrs. Not sure about the high setting, but it does give off quite a lot of mist.

Customer Review: like it! But heed review @ possible problem..
Summary: 4 Stars

It really kicks out the steam and is easy to use, but when I plugged it in I got the flashing and no steam as well. The other reviewers advice helped me to fix it... as he said "it would only blink at me and not start misting. The screw cap for the water tank, onto which one first screws in the demineralization cartridge, has a small rubber gasket. that gasket was too far down against the outer screw cap, which meant the spring loaded button would not work properly to let the water descend into the base tank . The solution: push up on that small rubber gasket so that it is as far up and away from the screw cap as it can be without falling off, and voila!" thanks to this advice it works great!

Customer Review: Best one I've tried yet!
Summary: 4 Stars

This humidifier is almost totally quiet. I've tried a couple less expensive models, and they were terrible. This one is worth the money you pay for it. I highly recommend it. It is a little awkward to fill the water tank, but so far, all the ones I've seen fill the same way. I think it's just the nature of the beast. A very small drawback for all the benefits.

Customer Review: Sonic Cool - Great Product
Summary: 4 Stars

Great product - runs quiet. Only draw back is the tank shape is a bit awkward to fill as it has no grab points when you turn it over (if it had a handel on the bottom or provisions to stand flat when filling I would give it 5 stars).

Customer Review: fixing a potential problem with this humidifier
Summary: 3 Stars

I purchased two identical Venta VS207 humidifiers to use in separate bedrooms. After reading the manual, I set up the first one with no problem. But the second one--as another reviewer said-- would only blink at me and not start misting. After some trial and error, I discovered the problem and was able to fix it: The screw cap for the water tank, onto which one first screws in the demineralization cartridge, has a small rubber gasket. In my non-working unit, that gasket was too far down against the outer screw cap, which meant the spring loaded button would not work properly to let the water descend into the base tank . The solution: push up on that small rubber gasket so that it is as far up and away from the screw cap as it can be without falling off, and voila! you get mist!!
Another problem: I suspect the relative humidity readings may not be accurate: both of my units show an RH of 35% when other hygrometers in the same room show about 50%. My solution is simply to set the RH desired level on 35%, which really means the unit will cut off when I think the real RH is around 50%.
Also, due to the design, it's a bit awkward to replace a full water tank onto the base. It requires controlled strength.
On the positive side, the units are very quiet and produce lots of mist.
