I have an older version of this heater. Actually I own three of them. We have a travel trailer that does not have a heating system. We live in a warm climate and didn't think we would need the heating system. We thought we would just use a small heater when necessary. However, we purchased several heaters to use and we were not pleased with the results. The first was one of the ceramic box type heater. It did heat but, when it came on it got too hot and it was impossible to keep the temperature comfortable in the trailer. We then purchased another heater and we got the same result. It was either too hot or too cold. These heaters come on at either 800 watts or 1500 watts and there isn't any setting between. When they are on, the air coming from them is too hot.
I purchased the original digital vortex heater and tried it in the trailer. Amazing results. The heater can be set at either 800 or 1500 watts. This doesn't mean it stays at the 800 or 1500 watts setting. As the room warms, the heater is able to cut back on the wattage and use only what is necessary. From a few watts to the maximum setting you have selected. This works great. It is able to just put out enough heat to keep the room very comfortable. No other heater is able to do this. In other words, most heaters constantly put out their maximum wattage setting and there isn't any control to make it cut back on the wattage. This heater, simply uses wattage from next to nothing to the selected 800 or 1500 watts you have selected.
The heater is very quiet and it circulates the warm air everywhere. We got rid of the other heaters and only use the Vornado now.
We have had people ask us what kind of heater we are using and where they can get one? We have been in some cold weather and it has never failed to keep us very comfortable. We don't get cold and then hot. All heaters should have this feature.
If you have another heater, look at the controls. You may be able to set it at either 800 or 1500 watts. But, it will come on and it will use the 800 or 1500 watts all of the time. It will put out the 800 or 1500 watts of heat until it turns off. Then, it will wait to come on again. You may get cold and then get hot. The Vornado constantly monitors the air and just uses the amount of fan speed and heat to keep the area warm. We can open the outside door and the heater will put out more heat to get the area warm again. It will then gradually cut back on the amount of heat needed until it reaches the desired temperature. Ours have a temperature knob on top that shows the temperature setting. Some of the never units have a digital readout for this feature.
I think you will really like this heater. It works as expected. Vornado has made quality fans for many years. This heater is no exception... It only takes one heater to keep our small trailer warm. I bought the others for home use. We don't like out bedroom to be too warm in the winter. We keep the vent closed into that room. We use the Vortex to just warm the bath area when needed. I actually have purchased other Vortex heaters and given them as gifts to friends. They can't believe how well they work.
