Tools and Hardware Reviews of Vornado EH1-0028-06 DVH Digital Vortex HeaterCustomer Review: Terrific product - Performance exceeds expectation Summary: 5 Stars
I was hestitant at first to purchase this "whole room" heater, having purchased three other heaters previously. However, based on the majority of positive reviews and having seen other Vornado heaters for sale in the past at stores, I took a calculated chance.
When I first received the item, I didn't realize it was, in fact, the heater I ordered. I thought the box was far too small for what I was expecting. And when I took the product out, I was more surprised as to how small the heater truly was. It appeared to be a space or personal heater. I was disappointed thinking that there was no way this small heater could heat a "whole room".
I COULD NOT BE MORE WRONG!
I fired this little baby up, left the room (the coldest room in the house) and my wife went in before me and had to turn the heater down, the room had become so warm. I like the simple, yet informative display of the digital panel. The enclosure never gets hot and the output is a comforting warmth.
This heater really delivers on its "whole room" promise. The room that this heater is in is about 300 square feet. But, the Vornado warms it up in less than 20 minutes and needs to be turned down after a total of 30-40 minutes.
It's not often that you can purchase an item and it performs as the manufacturer claims, but this is one product that exceeds its performance claims, in my view.
I will certainly buy Vornados in the future. They have my trust and confidence in their products.
Customer Review: I can use this one...... Summary: 5 Stars
I keep birds, and in the winter months and cooler days I want their cage areas warmer than the rest of the house (we keep the thermostat on 62 degrees in winter because the upstairs stays too warm otherwise, but the little heaters keep the birds and us from freezing downstairs.)
In attempt to keep the birds warm in our cool house, I have gone through several little heaters and settled on this Vornado model as the best for my purposes, although I also continue to use two Honeywell models I bought a while ago.
My Vornado heater circulates the air with or without the heating element running and makes the ambient heat even.
I have a wall heater/air conditioning unit at work, so I brought a Vornado into the office to keep my feet warm and my head cool. I've even used it on hot days to circulate the cold air from the floor (with the heating element off). I have a Vornado fan upstairs at home for the same purpose in summer. I figure the technology is similar?
I like the dial on the Vornado better than that on the other little heaters because I can't understand their dials--even after reading the instructions over and over (I don't reset the temps very often, so once I figure it out if I don't use it for a while, I forget how to use it). The Vornado is very straightforward for a 'non-mechanical' person like me--what you see is what you get. I also use the Vordado air filter systems for my birds and me. I love Vornado products.
Customer Review: One of those really great products Summary: 5 Stars
I have had a Vornado heater for a while to help heat just a room. I bought a different brand the other day and saved a lot of money, but it did not ever heat up the entire room.
What I like about the Vornado is that it is quiet.
It is light and small, and has heavy duty heating ability.
At first I did really think the unit heated that well, because the air coming out of the unit is not that hot, and the elements do not glow or radiate lots of heat, but sure enough, after some time the vortex action pumps heat in the air of a room and circulates it all around until the whole room is toasty. It almost eliminates drafts as well.
I really like my two Vornados. One is the new digital version, that has a remote control which is nice, and a thermometer as well as a thermostat so you can see what the temperature is and set the temperature you would like.
The only think I am worried about is that a few posters here have talked about breakages and malfunctions. I had my first one for several years with no problem, but I am really using both a lot now, so I hope they do not break. We'll see ... if it does I'll be sure to mention it.
These babies are expensive but to me they seem worth it. Also, everyone who has rated these not that good no one has suggested any better alternative.
I have to thank Vornado for making such a nice simple effective product.
Customer Review: perfect for basement apartments! Summary: 5 Stars
I live in a basement apartment in Washington DC. The winters here get pretty cold and I do not have control of the heater. The landlord upstairs controls the heat (and they are rarely home).
I plugged this heater into my front room. The room measures 20x25'. The temperature gage intially read 58 degrees! Wow that's cold. I set the digital temperature gage to 72 degrees. It initially took about an hour to reach that temperature (I think the electronics needed to be broken in).
This little heater has been plugged in and running nonstop, 24 hours a day, for the past three weeks and it is nothing short of spectacular!
I positioned the heater at one corner of the apartment and it heats the entire room and keeps every corner of the room at the same temperature.
Since it has a plastic casing, it is constantly cool-to-the-touch and I have no reservation with leaving it on when I leave in the morning to go to work. The unit *never* gets hot.
I thought $100 was a bit expensive for a heater, but wow... this purchase has been justified.
I also have a humidifier (by Bionaire) running on a 24-hour basis to prevent the room from becoming too dry.
The temperature gage on the heater is spectacular. You really can tell the difference between 70 and 72 degrees with this heater.
It's fabulous. Nothing short of fabulous.
Customer Review: Excellent heater Summary: 5 Stars
Though a little more pricey than the VH2 and the AVH2 I really like the fact that it has a digital thermostat. It definitely heats my room in my house which is 12'x20' in roughly 10 minutes or so depending on how cold it already was in the room. It has great safety features so I don't have to worry about fires or anything. It is ridiculously quiet which is nice as it is never annoying however it does make it harder to remember to turn it off when I leave the room. It's a great product that works.
What helped me the most when deciding to get the DVTH and the VH2 was Vornado's website which compared the two [...]
In a nutshell, the DVTH (this unit) has a digital thermostat, adjusts the output based on desired temp rather than just turning off and on, and yeah it uses numeric values rather than high low and medium values and such. I like knowing the exact temp in the room and telling the vornado what temp I want the room and forget about it rather than play around with high medium low or I think the AVH2 which has a turn dial thermostat.
Bottom line, this product is good and I've never owned the other vornados so I only know as much about them as I've researched through customer reviews and product descriptions. The DVTH works and is great, and really heats the room evenly and well. As for everything else I said, take with a grain of salt.
