Tools and Hardware Reviews of Vornado EH1-0028-06 DVH Digital Vortex HeaterCustomer Review: Nice Performer Summary: 5 Stars
We purchased this to supplement the heating in our house (natural gas). As info, we purchased the DeLonghi Mica Panel last year and find it easy to use and also recommend it. The only drawback of the Mica Panel unit is the inability to direct the heat with airflow. The Vornado is easy to use and very portable. In a bedroom or kitchen, it heats up the space in about 15 to 20 minutes. In the bathroom, it heats up in about 5 mins. Our kitchen is separate from the rest of our house and the only part which sits on a concrete slab, (hence it is the coldest room in the winter), especially the floors. We can enjoy our breakfast bar and also easily prepare and work in the kitchen by placing this strategically in the room. It warms up the area you are working and directs the airflow where you are seated or standing. Our house is 1,984 squarefeet with 1,100+ on the main floor and a walkout completely finished basement below. Our bedroom is 14 x 15, the kitchen is similar in size, so our review is based on the performance in these spaces. In the heating mode it has 2 settings, which both have a small gentle fan blowing the heat. It is quiet and easy to move. it is not too hot to move or touch.
Customer Review: No Heaters Delivered, But I'm Very Satisfied Summary: 5 Stars
Five Stars (* * * * *) - FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.
In mid-December I ordered two of these Vornado heaters through Amazon, and received the usual automatic responses, etc.
The heaters would be provided by a company named Crazy Dave's Tool House.
A shipment from Crazy Dave's arrived timely, when promised - just after Christmas. Good. But, what we received was not what we ordered. We were sent two other items instead. I contacted Amazon.
Here's what happened:
On January 5, I notified Amazon of the mistake.
On January 6, Amazon sent an automatic response saying they would check.
On January 7, Crazy Dave's sent an apologetic e-mail and a refund notice.
On January 7, Amazon confirmed that the paid amount was fully refunded.
On January 8, my credit card balance showed the refund had been made.
I'm sorry the heaters did not arrive, of course, but I'm very pleased with the quick and satisfying response by both Amazon and the supplier.
I rate this transaction a "neutral" for not receiving the heaters.
I rate this transaction FIVE stars for customer service.
Customer Review: Perfect for small, enclosed rooms Summary: 5 Stars
This heater works wonders in my uninsulated 10'x11'x10' bedroom. The fan does make moderate amounts of noise, especially when it clicks on and off, but it hasn't bothered me at all- even while I'm sleeping. The directions say to aim it across the room, unobstructed, straight at a wall, which does actually seem to help the air temperature remain pretty even throughout the room. I've tried using it in another room in my house, which is 13'x13'x10', but it wasn't powerful enough for that room. (I got a DeLonghi EW7707CM Oil-filled Radiator for the larger room, which works great, but there's not enough space in my crowded bedroom for this type of heater.) The Vornado heater is perfect because it doesn't take up much space, I just put it on my bookshelf, but it effectively heats my whole room. I wouldn't recommend it for large or open spaces though.
My favorite feature is the thermostat which gives a read out of the current temperature as well as the temperature that you have set it to. A lot of space heaters have rather arbitrary temperature settings, so it's nice to have a thermostat that actually has settings in degrees fahrenheit.
Customer Review: Reliable Heater! Summary: 5 Stars
All in all this is a good heater! Easy to use (three buttons not counting the on/off). Heats quckly and has small openings on the front and sides so to keep out kids fingers and pets paws. Heats up my good sized room all around well. Not bright like other heaters so that you can't watch TV due to the brightness projected.
Keep in mind that it's an electric heater. It will not heat up your entire house nor a massive victorian ceiling room. Plus you must keep it on the floor (good hard surface). The cord is long, but I needed an extension. KEEP in mind you NEED to purchase a special contractor grade extension cord capable of taking 1200 watts (12.5 amps) or else you risk fire (this is how many fires happen in the winter).
Know what you're buying. This is a good higher end heater. Follow the directions and you'll be fine and this heater will give you warmness on those cold nights.
Added: if you need an extension cord make sure you get the highest rating of a 14, contractors grade. Maximum 20 feet in length. Thanks to Scott for the corrections!
Customer Review: Bought One Last Year -- Three This Year Summary: 5 Stars
We use one heater in the master bedroom which is both large with a sitting room and has a cathedral ceiling. The temperature differential between the floor and ceiling is at least 10 degrees. The DVH effectively circulates the air to blend the cold and warmer air. We have the heater pointed toward the bed creating a warm cloud over the bed. We have two young children and bought a unit for each of their rooms. The Vornado series is absolutely cool to the touch so their is zero concern that they will be burned. We run the units on low in their rooms since they are so effective. Although care needs to be taken, we move a unit to point into their bathroom door before running the bath water to warm the room as the tile can make the bathroom quite cold. Running the unit non-stop assuming the heater never cuts off costs less than a dollar a night when running on high and half that on low. We can drop the thermostat in the whole house by three to five degrees, save money, and be far more comfortable. These are truly amazing and effective heaters.
