This is a wonderful unit. I have a chilly apartment, and don't trust my wall heater, which is gas-based, prone to malfunctioning, and has a metal exterior that becomes extremely hot: I bought this space heater as an alternative. This Vornado heater warmed the room better than I expected, and the temperature control is fantastic. It's very quiet, but if you're a light sleeper, it might bother you a bit.
I really like the safety features, and the exterior of this unit doesn't get hot -- this is important to me as I have rescued birds. Now, I don't have to worry about them alighting onto a dangerous surface -- precautions still need to be taken for safety, but overall this is a great heater for people who have pets. This heater has automatic shut-off features for tip-over and blockage. So far, I'm quite pleased.

I bought 2 of these Vornado heaters last year, 1 for me and the other as a gift for my brother. We both love them. The heat it puts out is like the heat you recieve from a vent from central heating, it blows a stream of warm air. Not like the heat from the cheap space heaters which is hot but doesn't circulate well into the room. It is very quiet, none of that buzzing you hear from other heaters I've tried. I run it at 72 degrees in a 12 X 12 room and it definitely takes the chill out and creates a nice comfort zone. If you are looking for extreme heat source this is not the unit you want. I still have to run those nasty noisy electric heaters when I'm worried about pipes freezing. It does a fantastic job being used in room that is not ice cold but has a chill to it. We have a one bedroom apartment, and although lovely, it is SUPER drafty due to the giant windows. It is also hard to keep warm since we have high 9 ft ceilings and most of the heat rises to the top. I have been using an old heat dish which just heats that little direct area around it.. but the rest of the room stays frigid. Finally I decided to look for a good space heater. I decided on this one and am very pleased. First of all, it shipped SUPER FAST. I turned it on, it's so quiet I barely know it's on. Then the digital controls allow you to pre-set your temperature. The little heater does the rest. I was skeptical at first since it's so small, but the air does circulate well and pretty soon the whole room is warm and comfortable. I am so thrilled to have found this. Hopefully it will last me a long time!Customer Review: Great little heater but be CAREFUL!

It's simple enough for an 87-year-old who suffers from the cold (and dementia) to use in the master suite. It keeps him and the entire suite warm, and we don't have to run the thermostat nearly as high anymore. It's fairly quiet, and there are no disturbing lights to disturb his sleep. It was shipped quickly and arrived well packed. We are very pleased with the purchase experience, product and delivery service.
Two months after this initial review we had an outlet fire without any warning. The electrician who came to repair the outlet said that because this heater pulls as many amps as it does that it should only be plugged into outlets wired to handle such an output, as those found typically in a kitchen or bathroom. It does work well, but be careful where you plug this in! We were just lucky!

I bought a Vornado heater at the local hardware store, brought it home and realized it wasn't digital - so I returned it before opening the box and ordered the digital version from Amazon. With free shipping I thought it would be shipped on "the slow boat to China" - then to Alaska....I was surprised to receive the heater 3 days later via Priority mail !!!!
Plugged it in and it is true to its word, the room was toasty warm in no time. I just ordered another of the same Vornado since where we live electricity is by far cheaper than heating with oil. It's amazing the amount of heat that comes from this lightweight lil guy, but a word to the wise: the instructions say not to put it on a shelf or desk - only on the floor...I'm glad I read the instructions.
