It's nice to buy a product that works like it's supposed to based on the advertising and packaging. This is basically an adjustable pole that uses spring loaded compression to wedge itself between the floor and the ceiling or another flat object. This capability has other uses as well. In fact, I just used it to simply provide a place to clamp a heat lamp in my shop on a temporary basis.
If you are at all a DIY kind of person these come in real handy if you work alone.
