I bought these filters because they were cheaper than other alternatives. I replaced the manufacturer's filter and ran about 5 gallons through it before I dumped the ice tray. That night my wife noticed that "something is wrong with the water". I didn't notice a taste but she did, and she had no idea that I had even changed the filter. After a few weeks I think that it still tastes okay, but my wife refuses to use the water from the refrigerator. I'm hoping that in time the taste sh notices will go away.Customer Review: I can tell the difference

I really wish I could rate these higher. I buy generic medicine, store brand food, etc., whenever possible. But the water coming through these filters just doesn't taste good, even weeks and many, many gallons of water later. It's not bad enough that I'd pitch all three filters, but next time I think I'll bite the bullet and buy the brand name. I'm just trying to drink all my water extra cold so that the taste isn't as bothersome.Customer Review: For the price, not bad

Someone else wrote a review that stated that there is a bad taste (chlorine?) with these filters. I tried them anyway, and there is a bad taste in the beginning. But after we had gone through maybe a gallon of water, the taste is gone. For the next filter, I'm going to try rinsing it off first. And so far, the water is not killing my sensitive plant that needs filtered water, so I guess it's working :)Customer Review: Like the old saying goes...

...you usually get what you pay for. If these filters were better or at least equivilent to the original one don't you think the seller of this filter would advertise that? I see no lab testing showing the comparison of these products.
