I purchased these filters for a Kitchen Aid side-by-side. Before I purchased these filters from Amazon, I checked the Kitchen Aid website to make sure of the correct order part number. My users guide said I should order part number 4392857 (NL-300 & L500) which has been discontinued. But the Kitchen Aid website recommended this part number. Buy these filters from Amazon. This is the best price I've found anywhere for these filters. You can go to Sears or another retailer and spend a lot more money for them, or you can buy them from Amazon and save about 25% even with shipping costs. The only thing cheaper is not replacing the filter, and I don't recommend that! I often let it run six months instead of three, and I've never noticed a lot of difference in the water quality.Customer Review: Great product - Costs Less

I have a Kenmore Elite side-by-side refrigerator and have typically purchased the filters directly from Sears for the Kenmore version of this water filter. I found out that my refrigerator although Kenmore, was actually made by Whirlpool. So I searched the internet for the comparable filter for my model refrigerator, ordered it through Amazon saving oodles of money and have been happy with the product.Customer Review: Works!

I have to agree with other reviewers that unless you have a test kit readily available its hard to tell about filters, but the peace-of-mind makes it worthwhile.
These are the real PUR filters whirpool recommends and the price is much lower than most reputable offers online. So, if you need these and are looking for a deal ... This is about as good as it gets for these filters.

Saw cheaper brands, and did comparison research on what contaminants the off-brands filtered vs. the Whirlpool. If you're concerned about filtering heavy metals and chems out of your drinking water, the Whirlpool "cyst reducing" filter has better filtration specs than the cheaper off brands. Amazon's price was as cheap as any other place i could find--cheaper than most.
