Tools and Hardware Reviews of Whirlpool 4396841 PUR Push Button Side-by-Side Refrigerator Water Filter, 1-Pack

Customer Review: Just What I Needed
Summary: 5 Stars

The Amazon price was a little less than any hardware store's online price, so I ordered one and didn't waste time or gas checking out local hardware stores' inventory or prices. This was the first time for ours to be replaced in the new refrigerator, so I had no experience with these filters. The Kitchen Aid owners manual gave very little info about the filters, but I was able to match my model with one of the Whirlpool filters, which I ordered. Next time, I'll order a multi-pack (a small discount) since I now know this is the correct replacement part.

Customer Review: Whirlpool/KitchenAid Fridge Water Filter
Summary: 5 Stars

This filter fits Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Kenmore, Amana, Maytag, and Jenn-Air side-by-side refrigerators with a push-button filter located in the grille at the bottom of the fridge.

The filter is by Pur, which is at the top of my list for water filtration. Installation was a snap as long as you follow the included instructions.

The price was reasonable, considering what you are receiving.

I recommend this product (although if you have one of these refrigerators, you don't have much choice).

Customer Review: Nice filter. Does a good job.
Summary: 5 Stars

The filter does a nice job. The water comes out tasting better than the filtration system I have at my sink. The filter is also very easy to install: basically 3 steps. The problem is with the refrigerator itself. Replacing the filter causes air bubbles to enter the water line. So you have to unscrew the holding tank inside the fridge, and jiggle it while someone else pushes the water dispenser. It's a pain but at least it gives me a chance to clean the bottom of the fridge (and the two drawers in front of the tank).

Customer Review: no problems--and cheaper
Summary: 5 Stars

I think all the people complaining about filters and flow rates bought the wrong filter----this one is a single-pack and is listed as "fast-fill". I have had no problems---just make sure you bleed the air out of the system or your water dispenser will drip----simply install the filter and then fill about 5 pitchers worth of water and the dripping will stop. with freee shipping this was at least ten bucks cheaper than stores. make sure you get this one and not the 2-pack since I don't think they are labeled "fast-fill"

Customer Review: half the price at Sear's
Summary: 5 Stars

My first time around changing the filter on my new Whirlpool side by side refrigerator. I initially went into Sear's and was told the Kenmore filter would work and picked up a unit for $59.95. Offcourse that was a sticker shock to me. I looked for the 4396841 model on the internet and Amazon's price with free shipping was almost half the price! I ordered two and the replacement went off like a charm. I could not be happier and you bet I returned the Kenmore filter to Sear's.
