Customer Review: OMG!! They did not make these things MAGIC??? (UPDATED 2011)

Gee, these tablets are not magic for people that let their machines get so bad they stink, they are PREVENTATIVE measures. You put one in every month and you NEVER HAVE A PROBLEM!!!! Geez folks, I admit that bleach might so the same thing but I have used these religiously since I got the washer (since the manufacturer recommended it) and I have never had a problem with my washer smelling bad in 2+ years (wonder why??). People never cease to amaze me when they rate something with 1 Star when it's their own lack of understanding of what a product really is and not a shortcoming of the product. I am intrigued by the Borax solution though since my past uses of that product indicate it might actually do the trick. Bottom line is these are NOT MAGIC they are to be used every month and you will never have a problem.
UPDATE: Well here we are after 4+ years and I still use them and my machine still smells and runs perfectly, I still recommend these tablets highly. Once a month and no problems.

We have had our Kenmore front loader machine for 2 years now and have used these tablets from the beginning. I use one tablet a month according to the directions-empty washing machine, hottest water cycle, etc. I also wipe the front gasket (especially between the "folds") after each wash that I do,leave the door slightly ajar and only use a detergent that is recommended for HE machines. I use a liquid fabric softener as well as a liquid color-safe bleach. The water supply in our area has a definite unpleasant smell to it BUT our clothes always smell fresh and clean as does our washing machine.The small amount of time/effort/cost of tablets to clean/maintain the machine is well worth it. These tablets do work very well. Others who have not had any luck with them may have the same problem I had originally before I was told about this product by my repairman. Since I have an extended service policy on my set, I called to have the smell checked out. The service tech. opened the front of the washer and found several baby socks stuck in the drain trap. Always wondered where those disappeared to. Any small items must be washed in a net-bag to keep them from slipping between the barrel and the gasket at the front of the barrel (vibrating during cycles can allow small items to be squeezed through). The socks smelled horrible! If this is the reason for the smell, then bleach would be a temporary cure.Customer Review: Wonderful Product

I stumbled across this product at an appliance dealer in February. My 4-year-old front-loading Kenmore washer had developed the mildew "stank" and I was ready to purchase another washer because nothing I tried previously had worked to remove the odor. I followed the instructions on the package of Affresh and placed 3 tablets in the washer for my first use of the product and the smell went away completely. I now use 1 tablet a month (as the directions recommend) and have not had a problem with the midlew smell since. I was surprised to learn that other reviewers thought the product did not work. I have recommended this product to all of my family & friends who have front-loading washers.Customer Review: Worked after 1 use!

I am very pleased with this product. I had read a magazine article that suggested SmellyWasher and hopped online right away to find it. I was dissapointed to learn that I could only buy it online and would have to wait for delivery. I was at a local store later that day and saw Affresh instead and decided to give it a try. I was hesitant because I hadn't read any reviews on it but I brought it home and ran it through the washer that same night. I did a load of towels right after it and...no more smell!!! I figured I could always try SmellyWasher if this didn't work but now I don't need to. Highly recommended.
