The unit is both compact and quiet as it issues a stream of cool mist that improves air quality and helps moisturize skin. Inside, an anti-bacterial filter traps impurities from water, so that the mist you breathe is extra pure. Standing 4-1/2 inches high with a 4-inch base, the unit is easy to tuck onto a desk or shelf and disassembles quickly for refilling. The included car kit lets the humidifier be attached to the dashboard vents in your automobile and plug it into the car. An AC adapter is also included. Other helpful details range from an indicator light to fill markers to a secure cover for the humidifier port. I've had this humidifier for several years but I only pull it out when it gets really dry at work. I have not had any preformance issues, but you do have to follow the directions for it to work. This is not difficult but if you just plug it and fill it, it won't work. It has to be "primed" the first time you use it. It does a great job at humidifying the immediate (say, within 3 or 4 feet at most) area. When it is on, my hair goes from sticking to everything to obeying the rules of gravity. It also helps with keep my nasal pasages moist enough I don't have to resort to Ocean. I set it about 2 feet away from me, very near my monitor, and point the mist straight at me. I cannot hear it at all nor does anyone sitting near me. I can only tell it is on when I see the mist coming out. It truly is a personal humidifer, if you want to humidify more than the very immediate area, it is not for you.
