Customer Review: Use it for alignment while drilling

I use these for aligning and holding two boards together while drilling holes for screws. They work great for that!
All you need is a hand drill and these clamps plus a decent drill bit.
If you use wood screws, use a tapered bit.
If you use drywall or "multi-purpose" screws, then just drill a slim pilot hole.
If you use machine screws, then use a self tapping bit.
If you are "directionally challenged," ( meaning; you can't drill straight) then use a drill guide.
Even if your holes are a little off, the boards will come together straight because they were aligned when you drilled the holes.
I have used these for aligning all sorts of work: casework, cabinets, fences, shelving, jigs & fixtures, tool-box carcasses... you name it.
You need two of them. That's no problem since they are usually sold in pairs.
BTW, you will save a little money (about 25% to 30%) if you do buy them packaged in pairs.
Having raved about these for this purpose, I must point out: they are not that great for actually clamping during glue-ups. They are not designed to bring corners together. They are designed to hold corners in place. So, just be aware of that. If you use screws to bring edge-joints together, then these are great. If you are trying to apply clamping pressure, you need another system.
Think of them as an extra pair of hands that hold things squarely. Use them for that purpose and you won't be disappointed.
