This product is great but the instruction misses an important point. To make it work, you have to fill water not only the ceramic cone but also the attached hose. The instruction does not say anything about it. Test it before your trip at least for several days to allow you try & error.

After much reading of other reviews and researching automatic watering kits, I ordered 3 sets of hydrospikes for three large plants. I had read several hints about how to get them started and things to watch for in installing. Over a period of a couple weeks, I tried all the hints and followed the directions; I did get one spike to produce a little water, but not enough to even water a small plant. We travel, and I need to be able to trust my watering system; my son and daughter-in-law will be my watering system. I will be dropping my sets off at the post office today for a return. Amazon is making the return very easy and for that I am appreciative.

It really baffles me that people have the gall to put out products that just don't work. And they know they don't work.

Do not buy anything that looks like this.

I called the company to see how it worked and they didn't know.
They were just hemming and hawing on the phone.

If you are going away get a friend to water your plants.,
