Tools and Hardware Reviews of Yard Butler RP-3 24-Inch Roto PlanterCustomer Review: WORKS GREAT FOR PLANTING DAYLILY SEEDLINGS!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased the Yard Butler planter auger due to an ankle injury. Pushing down on a spade was causing too much stress on the joint, so I had to figure out a less painful alternative to plant about 500 daylily seedlings. My first attempt was not good because the soil was dry. It doesn't work well in hard compact soil, that is like trying to drill through concrete. I waited a few days for a good soaking rain to deeply saturate the soil. After the rain it works wonderfully. I just dug 31 holes with the 2.75 inch planting auger in about 20 minutes. I would still be out there with the auger now if it hadn't started raining again.
Anyway, I love the plant auger bit and highly recommend this one!

Customer Review: Power Tools Meets Gardening Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this router because I wanted to plant 200+ bulbs. It works well, even in clay, for digging holes. Be careful with the 24 inch router because it might be too large for your job. I found that it worked best to start digging holes for larger plants. I couldn't space the holes as close as I wanted for the bulbs because of the 2.75 inch diameter. The smaller 1.75 one would probably be best for bulbs. I inserted the router into a hammer drill (extra handle gives great leverage for tough clay). The router slipped out once from the drill but only because I hit a few big rocks. It will cut through small roots if the drill it is attached to is strong enough.
Customer Review: Sturdy backsaver Summary: 5 Stars
This product is exactly what I was looking for. It is a sturdy steel auger that when attached to your drill digs a good sized hole (about 3") across and as deep as 12". To make a bigger hole you just have to expand along the outer edges of the first. I also found this tool useful in breaking up the top layer of dirt just by using it at shallow angle. It even worked great in clay soil as long as you watered the ground thoroughly before hand. This was a real back saver for me. I dug over 20 holes in under 10 minutes. This will be perfect for planting bulbs.
Customer Review: Auger makes tiller Summary: 5 Stars
I have used this auger for a couple of months now. It performs quite well except when there are rocks in it's path. Although this type of product was touted on TV to do much more than it could really do,this product was honestely represented. It has a large enough size to speed up the work of a small area tiller. I have used it in flower beds where it has to cut old roots up to 3/8" think with success. It worked best for me with a corded electric drill because the work it does uses up battery strength rapidly. I am satisfied with this auger.
Customer Review: Saved my back! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought more than 150 bulbs and really needed some help. I found this wonderful "helper" and ordered it. It arrived in a few days. We had not had rain for a few weeks so the soil was dry and our soil contains clay. I had my doubts how this would work, but it worked great! Even in areas where there were small roots, it performed very well. Naturally, it does not perform very well if the soil is rocky, which some of ours is. I planted about 100 bulbs in less than 3 hours! I definitely recommend this product.
