Tools and Hardware Reviews of Zojirushi EE-LAC50HA 3-Liter Warm-Mist HumidifierCustomer Review: Zojirushi EE-LAC50HA Humidifier Summary: 5 Stars
The Zojirushi EE-LAC50HA Humidifiers have been a great help during our New Mexico 'dry' winter. We purchased two units back in November 2009, and have them strategically placed to get maximum coverage (rated @ 675 sq ft each). They are extremely simple to use, and work as expected. The refilling couldn't be easier, as we simply have a large 1.5g water pitcher that we fill and then refill the humidifiers. We use water right from the tap. Typically at normal settings, they operate for about five hours before refilling is needed (a "refill" light goes on, and it stops). "Low" normal setting lasts for about six hours. Your mileage may vary, of course, as there are many additional settings. While this sounds like it requires a lot of work to keep them operating, refilling takes literally a minute each, a few times per day. And press a couple buttons. Really!
Cleaning is often an issue with humidifiers. These are great - when we see or feel any hard water sediment in the (bottom of the) water container, a simple rinse with hot water is all that is needed for day-to-day operations. Recommendations are to clean the units very three months, but we haven't had the 'cleaning needed' LED go on yet. Cleaning should be simple - fill with water, add a packet of zojurushi recommended cleaning powder, close, press the 'clean' button. No filters, no replacement cartridges, very simple. The packets are a couple dollars.
All in all, we're very happy with the units, and are trying to locate a couple more, but they're sold out everywhere - Amazon has been out for weeks. I didn't mention that if you have especially dry areas, these units can be simply picked up by the sturdy handle and moved. And, like an Apple MacBook, the plug is 'smart' in that it'll remove itself if bumped hard, rather than having the unit crash to the floor (or ???). Excellent design, a bit pricey, but worth every penny as far as we're concerned. Recommended without reservation!
