I have owned numerous humidifiers over the years for various reasons. I was looking for a humidifier for some (about 60) orchids in my large kitchen window and felt that a cool mist humidifier would lower the temperature over the winter too much and went with the Zojirushi. Also, I was looking for something I did not have to constantly clean and worry over mold/mildew. Finally, I did not want some tank that I had to constantly take off and fill in the sink and then spill all over the floor when I lugged it back over to the main unit. VOILA!!!
This humidifier is so awesome and I am so happy with this product!!! Two trips with my basic tea kettle fills it...and since my aim is good I pour it right in and don't even have to bend over except to open and close it. Those who complain about the lid hurting when it closes on their fingers...not sure what they're doing, but this thing is incredibly simple to fill.
As far as noise...WOW...you people are really, really light sleepers! Nevertheless, this is in my kitchen so with all the activities during the day when it runs and at night we are upstairs, I can't say I actually hear it to any significant degree. I am certain that were it in the bedroom, the noise would not prevent me from sleeping nor wake me up.
The programing is wonderful! I fill it in the morning and use both time settings. By the time I get home from work 10 hours later it has just finished up the tank. Then I fill it after dinner and run it again through the night. My orchids are in HEAVEN! And since I don't have a green house, I'm on now to order another one for the left side of the window (it's a really BIG window!)
Finally, cleaning is a breeze...my coffee machine is more work to clean...you just run the cycle with a citrus acid pack and you are good to go.
Solid compact machine that definitely has the customer in mind and I would highly recommend this humidifier!

I was reluctant to spend so much but based on the reviews here I made the purchase. I love this humidifier. Have had numerous other brands at much lower cost, but after using this would not purchase any other. This machine is quality construction, unlike any other. When turned on it will tell you if the humidity level in the room is low, med or high. I have a separate humidity measurer and can verify that this mechanism is accurate. You can set the machine to run manually or automatically at either high or low settings and there is a timer you can use. There is an automatic turn off in case you're not around when it runs out of water and that does work daily for me, as I'm rarely able to get into the room much. There are safety features like a lock button for all the other features so children or animals can't alter the settings and the lid cannot be opened without using two mechanisms (which are very easy for an adult). To fill it you just open the top and add water - no separate water containers to detach, fill and reattach. This is also easy to clean by just adding the citric acid and pressing the clean button. Again, the quality of construction and materials used makes others, even more expensive ones, look like junk. It's also very stable and will not tip over.
I hope amazon gets these in again because I need another humidifier and after using this, I don't want any others. Please get these back in!!!

The Zojirushi EE-LAC50HA 3-Liter Warm-Mist Humidifier is a well-designed product. Since purchasing it I have noticed increased humidity throughout the apartment (around 800 square feet) and I have been very pleased with:
1) its compact and intuitive design,
2) ease of use,
3) lack of annoying lights, and
4) the fact that it does not seem to emit any of the white dust you get from so many other humidifiers.
There is some noise, which is probably because it is a warm air humidifier, but it is barely noticeable. In the living room it doesn't bother me when I am watching TV, for example. If you do not like white noise, especially when you are sleeping, then I think it could be annoying. In that case, you may want to purchase a cool mist humidifier instead.
I have had very positive experiences with Zojirushi products over the years, and this one seems to be high quality as well. It is more expensive than equivalent models from other makers, but worth the extra money in my opinion.

This is the second Zojirushi humidifier that I have purchased, so I do have experience owning the first one. I purchased this 2nd one for my daughter's bedroom. It does a good job at humidifying a large room, as expected. The humidified air comes out warm, if not hot, which is always welcomed during the winter. What sets this humidifier apart from the competition, besides the price, is the ease of use, solid structure, and durability. Lets face it, most of us have purchased several humidifiers over the years because they break and do not last more than 3 seasons. You can expect to keep this one for much longer than that. It is virtually mess-free, minimizing the water drips that are so common during the refilling process of most other dehumidifier in the market. The power cord attaches via a magnet, so that if you trip on the power cord, it will just come off the humidifier rather than causing a spill of hot water. It is a similar mechanism as seen on Apple's Mac laptops. I am considering purchasing a 3rd one.Customer Review: So easy to use!

I've used the cute animal cool mist humidifiers, and a Vicks warm mist humidifier, but this one has much more ease of use.
I love the fact that there's no removable tank to refill, love the carrying handle (my daughter brings the empty humidifier downstairs each morning), love the magnetic power cord.
I haven't used the timer function. Yes, it does put out a lot of steam. However, that is what we need, so it doesn't bother me, I think it's great.
It is by far the most expensive humidifier I've owned, and I never expected that I would be willing to pay so much. But that was before having a kid with super dry skin. Before the hassles of cleaning cruddy cool mist humidifiers, dealing with tanks and such. All the other humidifiers have tons of nooks and crannies I could barely get clean. I love that I can just buy the Zojirushi cleaner for this humidifier and not have to deal with bleach, brushes, and vinegar.
