Seriously though, we own a dirt dog from Irobot. and this little babby gets up our little dogs tremendous amount of hair that not even our huge wall unit shop vac picks up.
if you own pets get it.. you're missing hair.. we've yet to really find any material except extreme shaggg carpet that this thing will not go over nor crap it will pick up.
if only they could devolop this model in a lighter plastic material and increase it's power and ability to go over shag carpet this thing could do it all i think.
i mean besides beeing a little slower this thing still picks up dog hair that our shop vac unit doesnt that says a lot for a 100 vaccuum

will most always unjam itself or alert you. we're not 100% robot creator perfect yet.
will go over most floor materials. very few that it can't
obviously can't clear certain areas because of it's radius(again the 100% us beeing able to create perfect robots yet isnt here yet)
other than that it rocks.. the price rocks.. this thing has taking a beating maintaine it and we've had ours for atleast a year and still cleaning like a champ.
you're dump if you don't atleast try one.

I am very impressed with the capability of this Roomba to pick up all the wood chips, screws and other things that fall on the floor while doing projects in my shop. I do a lot of wood working and after some projects there is a good amount of sawdust on the floor. the dirt dog does a great job of getting all of it. The pattern seems very random but it does get to all areas of the shop and storage area, including the around the catbox that is in one corner. I went ahead and got the schedular pack with invisible walls and have it going once every other day. very nice to be able to walk into the shop with a clean floor with no litter tracking from the cat box left on the floor. You can also trigger it for cleaning anytime. I have been very happy with this device, one thing to keep in mind is that loose cords across the floor do cause it to hang up so keeping those up off the floor will prevent any issues. other than that it can deal with about anything in the shop. Highly recommend the dirt dog for shops, remember that there is no vacuum so this would not be the one for carpeted areas. One last note it will pack the dust bin full so be sure to empty it after a heavy cleaning so it will have room for future work.Customer Review: I love the dog!

iRobot 1100 Dirt Dog Workshop Robot
I use the iRobot Dirt Dog every Saturday in my house! I bought it because I thought our house might have more traffic than the average and I wanted something that would be more durable. And it is!
We are really impressed with how much "stuff" it picks up. It has a large tray to hold the dust, hair, and other "stuff" it sweeps up. If you have a great amount of hair, I would recommend you invest in one of the iRobot Pet Cleaning models; they have rollers that don't wind the hair up.
My husband was not happy when I first ordered this and the Scooba. However, he was so excited about their efficiency that he even told his family about them. We both would highly recommend both products.
I would recommend you order this with the two year Appliance Replacement Warranty.
I've taken the Dirt Dog on a "Show & Tell" tour to family and friends. I let it start up and go in their livingrooms. Whether their floors are clean or not-so-clean, it always comes up with debris.

I've had my Dirt Dog for about two months now, and it does the job I bought it for - picking up the cat hair, dust, and kitty litter from the various spots where they gather. I have hardwood floors, live in the Los Angeles area (dusty!!), and have a cat that sheds a lot. I couldn't keep up with all of that with my infrequent vacuuming, so I got the Dirt Dog to pick up more often. I run it every day when I leave for work, either in the kitchen/entryway/bathroom or living room/bedroom, alternating each day. Now all I have to do is vacuum around the edges and behind things once in a while and do the upholstery, and my place is much less sneeze-inducing! I just pick up the rugs and cat toys in the area that's going to be swept that day, and most days the job gets done. On occasion I find that the doggie has misjudged the cliff that is the stairs out of my bedroom, and is sitting on the edge, where it apparently gets stuck from time to time, but no harm done, I just kick it off again.
One other note - the floor in my kitchen/entryway/bathroom is rough-finish, unsealed tile with lots of uneven surface, and the Dirt Dog cleans it just fine, doesn't seem to present any problem.

i bought this 3 weeks ago. i know it's for the workshop but i bought it for my house. we live in wyoming and have a coal/wood stove, two big dogs, and a cat and my husband works outside year round driving a concrete mixing truck. my floors were a mess all the time.
I love this thing. it cleans my carpets and pergo floors nicely..the best part is the noticable absence of dust. everyday i had to sweep, swiffer, vaccum and dust with a swiffer duster. my furniture is dark so it shows every thing. but after irobot showed up i only have to dust twice a week with a noticable difference in the amount of nasty on the duster. we feel better in our home. i even use it upstair on our medium carpet. the cat just looks at it as it goes by but i know it is cleaning our house. i get to do other things while my floors get cleaned.
i love it so much i just bought the scooba. now the pergo will be wet cleaned everyday or so. i am very happy to have my dirt dog. it's a real prize winner. i hope the scooba is as great a little helper as my dirt dog. in a few months i will more than likely buy a better model for our carpets or at least anyother dirt dog. maybe i'll even get one for the shop.
