Tools and Hardware Reviews of iRobot 110 Dirt Dog Workshop RobotCustomer Review: Works Perfect Summary: 5 Stars
I got this unit because I am single and not home alot because of business and prefer not to spend all my time cleaning while I am home. My apartment has a 1 car garage and living area, kitchen and 3 bedrooms. vinyl floors in kitchen and hall ways, the rest is low pile standard carpet. I turned this puppy loose in the kitchen and hallways (vinyl) first, and it worked as it should no hang-ups no probs. I was amazed at the amount of dirt/Lint it picked up. On to the carpeted area's, No problems!!! Turned it loose in each room for an hour, the amount of lint and dust it got was suprising, I suspect most came from under the beds.
For me it's a no-brainer, I can do other things at home while it's working, thus saving me loads of time that I would have spent moving everything around with normal vaccuming.
On a side note I settled on this unit because I have low carpet, if you have shag or plush carpet I suggest you take that into your purchase consideration before settling on this unit, you may want to look at other models offered by iRobot. For me this choice was a "Thumbs Up"
Customer Review: Works fine indoors on carpet and hard floor. Summary: 5 Stars
Works indoors on carpet just fine. Picks up lots of lint(new carpet), fine dust, hair and kids after play and after meals mess. I use rolled up area rug to block off kitchen or other area that needs to be clean, instead of letting the machine wander everywhere and then run out of battery, this way I get all the heavy duty area(kitchen, living room, hallway) of my 1500 sqft living area cleaned in one charge, everyday. Takes about 2 hrs 15 mins to charge (after the intial charge) and runs for more than an hour with that charge. Cleaning is a breeze. Once every 3 days I clean the brushes with scissors takes about 6-7 mins. All you need to do is Take the area rugs out, keep the brushes clean and I almost forget that this machine is for shop floor, I wouldnt have known if the company didnt say so. It does not have suction(vacuum), the cleaning is performed by 2 brushes( 2 , one big and 1 small) and a rotating wand that helps dislocate dirt from corners, etc.
For the price, it is the best most useful equipment I have bought, has made my life easier.

Our goal was to buy a Roomba that would work well on hardwood floors. We were torn between 500 series and the Dirt Dog. After reading a lot of reviews and thinking about the pros and cons of the two alternatives, we chose the cheaper, more easily maintained option (Dirt Dog). Our biggest trade off was the loss of vacuuming-- the Dirt Dog only has brushes.
I was uncertain how this would impact performance. A vacuuming robot should vacuum, right? After using it on hardwood and linoleum floors, I don't see a need for vacuuming. It picks up everything I can see on the floor, and the catch bin has all kinds of large and small stuff from the floor. I suppose it would not work so well on carpeting, but the Dirt Dog does a nice job on throw rugs (tuck tassles under the rug).
Concerning the ease of maintenance issue. Long hair gets wound around the brushes. Fortunately, the Dirt Dog's brushes are easily removed and the Dirt Dog comes with a cleaning tool.
We're very pleased and my nine-year old daughter LOVES it.
Customer Review: Best Value Summary: 5 Stars
Okay here's what I have, a house of laminate and tile. This is my second iRobot, the first (Rosie) was a red, early model, bare bones, version. Cost $100 at Sears, lasted a year, worked great. Second purchase was, Bob Dog, AKA Dirt Dog Workshop Robot. After reading the reviews is seems the perfect match for my house(inside not garage), two dogs, and one cat, lots of sand and dirt brought in daily from the dogs who are walked many times a day. Bob Dog is a work horse, he runs twice as long as the Rosie, he's not as loopy, I think she hit the bottle during the day:) Bob Dog is super easy to clean, remove holding cup, dump and replace. No filters to clean, unlike Rosie and I have not had a problem with any dust being blown back into the air. He gets put to work at least twice a day and through he's on the noisy side, no one pays much attention, including the pets, to him till he alerts us that he's done and ready to be dumped and recharged. For my house, this product work wonders, and I see no need for the more expensive inside models.
Customer Review: Dirt Dog is champion Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased a dirt dog a couple of months ago to clean the garage floor and the basement floor. I decided after I got it that I would use it in our back room where the cat litter box is. This is a carpeted area and always has litter on it because our male cat is a mess. We also have a female cat but she has a few more moxies then the male. Regardles, the dirt dog is great. I do have to remove the fringed throw rug when I use the dirt dog out there but that only takes a couple seconds and beats having to spend an hour cleaning in that room. I also used it in the basement several times and am very impressed with the clean rug and clean bare floor. I too can walk in either room with bare feet and feel the cleanliness of the floors. I have yet to take it to the garage because we have had a lot of snow, rain and cold weather and will wait till it warms outside first before putting dirt dog to work. A great invention. Now all we need is a dirt dog or roomba to do the dusting and sweep spider webs, that would be awesome.
