Tools and Hardware Reviews of iRobot 110 Dirt Dog Workshop RobotCustomer Review: Love This Little Guy Summary: 5 Stars
I read tons of reviews before buying Buddy, the Dirt Dog. I love this little guy. I have a German shepherd that sheds like nobody's business and this thing gets up all the hair. It goes under the couch and beds without a problem (I put wooden napkin holders under the feet of my sofa so he'll fit). Keep in mind, it's not meant for pet hair. The pet hair Roomba is. I clean Buddy religiously to keep it in tip top shape. I paid good money for it and want it to last.
I'm on my second Buddy because the first one's motor went. Luckily, it was within the 90 day warranty. iRobot sent me a replacement and I sent their's back. They paid the shipping and were polite and helpful on the phone. I read some reviews on their customer service, but so far I haven't had any issues. I bought the home base to avoid coming home and finding it under the couch or bed. I do wish Buddy came with a scheduler like the other Roomba models. After a month of feeling smooth floors beneath my feet, I bought Scooba Steve. They are both loved.
Customer Review: Dirt Dog works hard! Summary: 5 Stars
I read all the reviews about the Dirt Dog and decided it would best fit my needs for a open space home with lots of wood floors, slate, tile and concrete garage floor. I was impressed with the reviews but wanted this guy to prove himself. I was not disappointed, "The Dog" as my 4 year old calls him, is very thorough and picks up anything and everything on the floor. He has made me and my sons more disciplined in picking up items on the floor. When I first turned on my Dirt Dog it was a bit louder than what I expected, but after getting him started, I was able to tune the sound out or went into another room to do some other chores. I like how this product allows me to multi-task at keeping my house clean. We live in the country and dust and dirt make it into the house pretty much non-stop. After "the dog" gets done the floors are so clean. I empty the dust bin after each sweeping and clean out the brushes as well. Very easy to take care of and has made me feel much better about housekeeping!
Customer Review: Bought as a backup Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased the dirt dog when a part for my 500 series roomba was on back order. The thought of 6weeks without a robot was too much to handle. Compared to the 500 series this one was loud! Also it is a sweeper not a vacuum. Even though I have hardwood floors the roomba vacuum does a better job. Dirt dog also does not de-tangle itself from cords like the roomba does. All that being said it was a great tide-me over, 'till the part came in, substitute.
Now if you use this as intended in the garage... FANTASTIC. This thing picks up nuts bolts, dirt, cat hair, anything on the floor. With a properly charged battery ( initial battery charge 16 hours when you first plug it into the base), this thing was running for about 45 minutes and still had power left when the garage was swept. My brother also has one. He uses it to pick up acorns on his deck. You'll find yourself cleaning more often when the robots do all the work.
I also have a Scooba... Fantastic.
Customer Review: Old Yeller does a mighty fine job! Summary: 5 Stars
This dog really is man's best friend. Our house is almost entirely hardwood floors or short-carpet surfaces. When we adopted "Yeller" we weren't sure if he was going to be up to the task of navigating around all our furniture and switching back and forth from wood to carpet (and jumping over all the transition strips.)
He surprised us! He can easily hop from room to room and does a great job cleaning up any surface and any type of debris. He lives in harmony with our cats and cleans up after them without a fuss. Corners that used to gather cat hair and dust bunnies are now clean and presentable. He also slides under the couch (though our couch has pretty good clearance) and the credenza and the coffee tables effortlessly.
We're moving to a bigger house pretty soon and I think we might have to introduce Yeller to a little brother for the second floor. After all... climbing stairs is one of the few things that Yeller won't do.
Customer Review: iRobot Dirt Dog - Best solution around until the Terminators come Summary: 5 Stars
I love robots and I hate vacuuming, so the best way to combine both love & hate was to get the Dirt Dog.
Maybe one day Amazon will sell Terminators to help us with other duties, like folding our laundry, cooking for us or even killing future leaders of the Resistance. In the meantime, if you need to vacuum the floors, the best thing around is to get one of these.
Yes, technically this is not a vacuum Roomba but it still gets rid of hair, dust, crumbs and things like that. He's an efficient soldier.
You do have to help the Dirt Dog a little. It's better if you move around objects like chairs, cables or lamps. If not, the robot will be bouncing back and forth between different areas and won't clean as much as it is supposed to. Maybe one day they will built them with arms and better intelligence, but that could also lead them to destroy you while you sleep.
