I am not a fond of writing review so please bear with my description. I ordered it as gift to my wife who is quite busy in and around home with 2 kids. This little tool started working from the first day and worked beyond our expectation. In fact after running for more than a month we are falling in love with Roomba every day. Only thing I make sure to clean it after each cycle which is easy to do with shop vac or other vacuum in your home. To me it takes only 2-3 min to empty the bin and clean brush so after working every day multiple time, it's filter still looks clean. I have big tiled area where it works perfect to collect little debries. It also works great on carpet. Overall we love it and will order more if needed.Customer Review: I love not having to vacuum anymore

The Roomba is great. I have had it for around 2 months now. The carpet and floors have never been cleaner. I never was one for household chores, and spend as little time as possible vacuuming. When I first go the Roomba, I could not believe how much dirt it was picking up. Mainly because it will get into spots (such as under the bed) that a normal vacuum cannot.
Now I have the timer set to clean twice a week when I am at work. It runs around the rooms, cleaning the carpet and floors then parks itself when it is done. You have to clean it after every use, but it is very easy to remove and clean the brushes.
Highly Recommended.

Got this roomba 550 for christmas and love it. I have two dogs and a toddler with that said the floors tend to get dirty fast. I use it mostly for the kitchen,hallway, family room and mudroom (majority of the cleaning is on tile flooring). But the roomba does a great job adjusting from tile to carpet. Does a good job picking up dog hair too. You do have to pick up items around the house (i.e toys, cords & etc.)that you don't want the roomba to get caught up on. But it's worth it I think makes you kinda tidy up as well. If your looking for something for everyday touching up it does a great job (But you still need to do your vaccuming and etc.).Customer Review: 5 to 1 for the 550

I bought a Roomba back in January (well December 26, but they didn't deliver until January).
Initially, it worked great. Oh sure, the thing would be stopped somewhere with an error light flashing occasionally wanting the brushes cleaned or the bin emptied. Other than that, I thought I had a good thing.
Then, last week it started clunking. It would come off the charging stand and run for a few seconds, then almost stall, and then slowly amble away, clunking every second.
They tell me the red gearbox is shot.
It will take a proper repair to make this thing work and to keep a customer.

This was purchased as a replacement for a Discovery model that was getting long in the tooth. It was a gift for Mom, who had developed quite a liking for the old Roomba, talking to it as it performed it's duties. I was in search of a replacement battery pack for the Discovery when I came across a great deal on this unit. It's got upgraded features that should make it less likely to get stuck, & easier to keep clean. Mom said it even talks back to her sometimes. TIP: Don't store the virtual walls near the charging base! They turn on automatically, & will prevent the Roomba from getting back to the base.
