Tools and Hardware Reviews of iRobot 530 Roomba Vacuuming Robot, WhiteCustomer Review: Finally, clean floors! Summary: 5 Stars
I've had the Roomba about two weeks now. I'm not particularly fond of doing housework, and vacuuming floors has to be one of my least favorite forms of housework. Generally, I clear all of the movable items from the floor, pull out the vacuum cleaner and proceed to wrench major muscle groups. With the Roomba, I still clear all movable items from the floor, but then I proceed to browse Amazon reviews while Roomba does all the work. My carpet has never looked better -- even after I have had it shampooed! I have long hair, my husband has long hair and we are owned by a long-haired cat. Roomba has no problem with all of the hair. It simply tells me when it's time to clean the brushes. I generally have to clean it after each use, but it's extremely easy. It's very light, so I can just pick it up, put it on the counter, turn it on its back and pop out the cleanable components. The virtual walls are total no-brainers. Point the gadget where you don't want Roomba to go and turn it on. That's it. Bottom line, it does what it's supposed to do and it does without a lot of effort on my part. The downside? I'm not getting as much exercise doing housework.
Customer Review: Pretty Outstanding Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this for my aging mother, and I have to say it is fantastic. The collection chamber is pretty easy to empty, and to start it once set up, it is just a matter of pushing a button. It does a good job, and all you have to do is move stuff around.
Perhaps the best feature is how well it gets under things. You can slide furniture around, at least the stuff it can't get under, and it has really good intelligence for getting under things.
Somehow I envisioned it as being fairly light, and it is heavier than I thought, which means you have to pick up anything light, or it'll push it right along. This would include cords, and that sort of thing.
Anyway, I am very pleased. I also checked out the accessories at irobot, and replacement features are pretty cheap. I think mom likes it too; anything to get the vacuuming done! It's kind of fun to watch, at least for a while.
Make sure to charge it initially for 16 hours, after which it takes a couple of hours. Also, it will return to the base, but for the most part, it needs to start there so it knows the location, of which, to return.
Customer Review: Love it! Summary: 5 Stars
I injured my shoulder and since surgery, it has not been the same. Whenever it was time to drag out the vacuum, I would cringe. And since we have two extremely furry cats, there was always a barrage of kitty-furball-tumbleweeds blowing through the place.
After seeing a commercial, and hearing a fellow co-worker rave about the Roomba, we decided it might be a solution. Well, it most certainly is! Yes, it cleans in a bizarre pattern and looks a bit goofy bumping into things. Then there is the moving things around so the little guy doesn't get stuck, but, I had to do that when I used the big, bulky vacuum anyway, right?
Because we can now run the Roomba frequently, the floors look fantastic. It is true that if you have pets, you are required to clean it out more often, and, ensure there is not a build up fur in either the brush bearings or the wheels, but I personally think it is well worth it. Oh, and did I mention the cats no longer run away in fear? They actually like to follow behind it.
Customer Review: Love the iRobot Summary: 5 Stars
My friend demonstrated it while we were visiting with her. Before I saw it I thought it was just another gadget...but not after the demo! I had to have one. We got it and have put it to use. It takes about 25 minutes to do a room, but you can be doing other things while it is working away. It is amazing! It cleans under things that you haven't touched in years...all those dust bunnies under the bed and furniture are gone. We named ours Jeeves. You do have to pick up before you run it, but that is so it can do a more thorough job. We have 2 controllers that stop the robot from going past them. I really only use one of them which I position near the computers. I don't want Jeeves running into the computers. Otherwise, if I want Jeeves to clean just the dining room/living room/kitchen I close the other doors so he can't enter and "get lost". Amazing the dirt it picks up. When we have people over to visit we usually give a small demo of how Jeeves operates and they are amazed. Get one, you will love it!!
Customer Review: Can't imagine a life without Roomba Summary: 5 Stars
Having children and hardwood floors through the majority of my house I was CONSTANTLY sweeping. I couldn't take sweeping at least 3 times a day any more and opted to buy a Roomba instead. I LOVE IT. After meals and snacks I can place Roomba where my kids made a mess and use the "spot" button or have Roomba clean the entire room.
Because I was sweeping so many times a day, I wasn't doing as thorough of a job as I would have liked. Roomba eliminates that problem. I am always (pleasantly) surprised at how much Roomba gets up. It makes me wonder how I ever survived without Roomba. My Mom was so impressed she went out and got one of her own!
I was nervous that being a robot, Roomba would be difficult to troubleshoot. Not at all; if Roomba encounters an error, it will tell you exactly what to do. Cleaning Roomba is also a breeze. Everything is color coded and easy to pop in and out which makes Roomba low maintenance and truly an asset to a busy household!
