I like the Roomba 400 I bought. There are a few issues. When it goes from carpet to hardwood, it seems to leave a cluster of the dust cup contents right where it transitions from carpet to floor. Specifically, I have a runner in a hallway that always has pet hair around the edges from where the Roomba leaves it behind. I have 1 dog and 1 cat. Also, the hair/dust seems to collect on the filter and it has to be emptied after about 15-20 minutes, otherwise it stops really picking anything up. If allowed to run the entire 45 minute cycle, I find it most effective to empty 2-3 times if possible. Overall, it's a good product. I was just hoping to eliminate the dustpan, but you still have to use it.Customer Review: Good but needs watching

This vacuum picks up great! But I had to watch because it got itself caught under some furniture and it seems to go in the same spot over and over. I had to pick it up and put it in an area that it had not touched after 15 minutes. If it is in a bedroom with the door closed than it does a great job but in a living room dining room combo is when it doesnt get EVERYWHERE. I would buy this for myself or someone else again but buy the docking station that goes with it.Customer Review: good but loud

you will know when this is running. i suggest you turn it on and leave the room, or better, leave the house and come back. you're not watching tv, reading, or listening to the yankee game when roomba's doing its thing.
other than that, seems to work fine and do a good job. picks up alot.

Got this as a Xmas gift from my son and his family. I had to move the kitchen chairs out of its way so it could get under the kitchen table.. Put up baby gates to keep it in the kitchen. It is not a bad machine.. Seems waste of eletricity to keep it pluged in when not in use..

I loved my roomba, it was the entry level model and didn't have the docking station. It worked great the cleaning non-pattern it used was interesting. It was a little loud, but hey it's a vacuum.
I used it for just under a month when it happened. I had started it and it had been going for almost an hour, so I knew the batteries were close to dying. I forgot about it for a couple of hours and then I heard the beep it gives to tell you that it's batteries were low. When I went to retrieve it, the beeps lead me to the carpeted stairs and at the bottom of the stairs in multiply pieces was the poor roomba. Of course the contents it had collected were spread all over the stairway.
The poor roomba was dead.
I would recommend the product, but I would invest a little more in a better model.
