Tools and Hardware Reviews of iRobot Roomba SilverCustomer Review: Cool...but not for me Summary: 2 Stars
I purchased the Roomba 415 yesterday and although it is a cool idea and I really wanted to love it, I'm going to take it back. Without going into the details, I had two main issues...the battery does not last long and you pretty much have to clean before you use it...so why not just clean and be done with it. I guess if you have a super modern home with very little furniture and very few rugs it would be cool. But I am just disappointed to come home to a room I still have to clean and a dead Roomba.
Customer Review: Last time I buy a roomba Summary: 2 Stars
This is the third time we bought one. the first was good, but lasted a year or so. the 2nd was returned, bc it never worked. this one seemed to work, so we kept it- but it does a terrible job, and the virtual walls do not work. in other words, what a waste. I am surprised they are not out of business.
Customer Review: Good condition was a stretch... Summary: 2 Stars
The product was used but listed as good condition. When I got it it was dirty, doesn't have an instruction manual, and a plastic piece on the underside was cracked and broke the first time I used it. It works, but I'm not sure that's enough to make it qualify as good condition. I was disappointed.
Customer Review: WARNING: Still not ready for prime time! Summary: 1 Stars
Great in concept, sadly not well executed for the long run. If you're thinking of buying a Roomba, based on my experience you should assume that it will *not* last beyond your warranty. My Roomba started acting up after only light use, but as it was out of warranty I was out of luck. After a few polite if canned responses from their offshore "customer support" I was told that my Roomba's constant spinning was not repairable. A call followed with a naive sales pitch that I find hard to believe would work with *anybody*. My Roomba was obviously defective, why would I want another? And why would *you* buy one in the first place? For this price, you have a right to expect more than a year of service. But in this case, I assure you, you can't. The quality of the design and manufacturing clearly needs more time to catch up with the quality of the concept. Until then, I will return to using a more reliable machine that incorporate more resilient -- albeit simpler -- technology.
Customer Review: Don't buy! Summary: 1 Stars
We have owned 3 Roombas. They have each worked for a short time, but then the trouble begins. Batteries last less than a year and are expensive to replace. There is a lot of maintenance required in cleaning the brushes and removing hair from all of the moving parts. This model won't go over a rug or carpeting. Stops sporadically for no apparent reason.
Roombas are better than the Scooba, but don't waste money on any IRobot product. Their products are good conceptually but the engineering is faulty.
