Well, first they didn't include the inner ring for the trash bag, no biggie, I called and 3 weeks later they sent one......
Now, it has just plain stopped working. Called, again, and was told to clean the sensor and wait 6 hours then turn it back on...... OK, 6 hours later - nothing. So I get to call again and then they will give me a warranty ticket. Quite frankly I am not impressed with this trash can. I guess I will let them send me a new one and hope it was just a fluke.
UPDATE: after waiting the 6 hours to let it "reset" it still didn't work. When I called back they told me they would not take it back OR replace it. I didn't buy it directly from them so "sucks to be you" basically. So the manufacturer doesn't stand by this thing either NICE!
I would now give this whole situation a -* if I could.
Customer Review: Trash Bags Get Torn Every Time...

This is an awesome idea. My kids love to put their trash away. Finally!
However, the problem we have had is that the black rim that the self opening top fits down on top of has teeth! 28 of them! These are 45 degree hard plastic triangles that help to secure the black rim (that holds the top) to the stainless steel. There is at least a 1/4 inch gap between the triangle and the stainless, causing it to grab the trash bags as you are pulling them out. This grabbing causes huge holes in the trash bags and leaking trash every where. We have even tried making sure that the trash can is not full each time we take out the trash... and still we have huge holes and rips in the bags. We have even tried the heavy duty lawn and leaf bags and those come out with the same huge rips. Very Frustrating and not what we expected in an $80 trash can.

I bought this trash can about 2 months ago. I love the way it looks, but it has some issues. First, the open/close mechanism is quite noisy. We ended up turning it off and just leaving the top open. But the most annoying problem this item has is the "lip" inside that catches on the bag as you try to take it out. Every bag gets ripped in spots. I find myself putting off emptying the can because I know it's going to be a hassle. So...although I think this item has some nice features, unfortunately the negatives outweigh the positives. I was very excited about this item when i saw it online....but I must tell you the top gets stuck almost every other time...and it is quite noisy...I like the concept but wish it worked better and was quieter
