I don't have the same exact can. I bought the 40L version. It's made of better metal. The foot pedal broke after a year and a half. I contacted Simplehuman and they sent replacement parts free. They didn't hassle me about proof of purchase or anything. The operator said they had some issues with the pedal and an upgraded part was available. Being used to so-so customer service from other companies I almost didn't bother calling. I'm glad I took the chance and contacted them.
