Customer Review: THE BEST DISH RACK I'VE EVER OWNED

I've had my Simplehuman Dish Rack for nearly three months and I love it. I read all the reviews before I ordered it, and decided I couldn't buy anything better. It had so many good things I liked. Some customers thought it had too much plastic, but I don't agree, there is plastic where it needs to be. I bought the gray and I'm glad I did, I like darker colors in the kitchen and white would have looked out of place. Someone said theirs went rusty, I've not seen rust on mine. The stainless steal looks good next to my stainless steel sink. I like the fact that I can choose to have the dish rack on the left or right side of the sink, and the knife block at the front or the back, that was important to me. Some reviewers don't like the plastic covers that go over the feet, I'm very particular and I do. It's true that a little pool of water does occur, but it's not a big deal, as long as it's not on my countertop I can live with it. It only takes a second to give it a wipe! I like the clips at the side where you can put cups. I put other things there, such as jugs and even my chopping board. I like the deep sides of the rack; it's amazing how many dishes you can stack up. I like the two compartments for the knives and forks and the knife block for sharp knives. The only criticism I have with the bamboo knife block is that there's only one large slot for wide blades, it would be nice to have two. The widths of the knife slots are as follows. 1 large slot 2 1/4", 2 medium slots 1 7/16", and 4 small slots 7/8". There were no instructions on how to care for the bamboo. I've bought several bamboo kitchen items in the last few years and have learned to keep it looking good and prolonging it's life, you should apply a little vegetable oil on a dry cloth and wipe it over the surface, then blot off any excess. I just did it to my knife block for the first time today and now it looks good again. The water spout can swivel to the left and right and overhangs the rack by 1 3/4" which is sufficient for my sink. This is a good size rack even for one person. I agree that this is a bit pricy for a dish rack, but it is worth every penny, it looks like it will last a long time, and I don't think I'll find anything better. It's something you use every day, and it makes life easier. When I received it, the old dish rack went straight into the garbage.
